You know, with all the technology out nowadays, you'd think a company like honda would have engineered something to let you know your exact oil level from the instrument panel

even the most expensive cars dont have anything like that.. some have low oil level sensors in the pans, but they arent the most reliable things.
I do have a good f20 crank and a few good rods laying around if you want just a basic rebuild. From what I have seen the cylinder walls usually end up scored as well. oil starvation can screw up everything.

I guess if there's enough oil pressure the make vtec work it's assumed there's enough to keep the rest of the motor lubricated...unfortunately,as the OP has demonstrated, this isn't the case.

since we are on the topic of oil starvation and the result of it. I was wondering what's the best way to monitor it instantly? like adding a oil pressure gauge with alarm on the dash? anyone have that setup?

I had this setup installed on my old S Ap1, Autometer gauges. Good $100 well spent.

You can't have an oil volume sensor because the pan is basically a hurricane of oil while the motor is running.
The oil pressure sensor measures pressure, not volumetric flow. You can have the last tablespoon of oil going by the sensor before the light comes on if there are no air bubbles in the infeed. I don't think it's named correctly. It should say "Rebuild Engine Soon".

Import Motor Werks? They don't specialize in s2k, but I take mine up there, and I see a few other ones up there from time to time. They've done plenty to my car with no problems and no complaints. Tell em Farzam sent you if you go, or AJ...I'm pretty sure you're friends with him.
