Default Traffic Legal advice needed!

Well back in november i got a ticket while comming back to school

It was a 82 in a 55 on a small two lane road

To sum it all up and make it quick

Office gave me a speeding and on top of that i guess he saw my plate "9KREDLINE" and smiled and slapped me with a reckless driving on top of the speeding ticket...

I haven't had a ticket for over 3 years!!!

A- Should i get a lawyer?
B- go to court and hope to get it reduced by the DA? and hopefully take some kind of class...
C- Use prayer for judgement
D- I'm SOL?

any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated as my court date in the 24th of this month at 9 a.m. on a day that i have to work too!

lawyer up, you will pay for it now, or later.
plus you wont have to take vacation for court, that adds in too.

The reckless part sucks considering you havent had a ticket in a while, but anything 15mph or more over the speed limit is legally considered careless and reckless in NC. I think cops can pull it out as sort of a judgement call. And considering you were doing almost 30mph over the speed limit on a two lane road (not as much room to avoid something as on a 4 lane highway), he chose to play that card.

A lawyer would probably be the best bet.

i'd agree. since it was reckless i'd go with a lawyer. if it wasn't i would have rescheduled the court date and then ask for a prayer for judgment if the cop showed up. surprised that radar didn't pick it up. gl.

this is 80% the same thing i went through 2 years ago. (90mph in a 45 on 29) i got wreckless and the speeding ticket. i called tim hawking, a lawyer in concord. I dont have the number on me but he should be in the book. i was told by a sheriff that if he couldnt fix it then no one could. take that for what its worth. if you go to court they will tell you to get a lawyer becauese its an arrestable offence. i ended up getting the speeding ticket dropped and got hung with the wreckless. had i done it the other way around i would have lost my DL for i think 90 days. this way i only got hit with points and small fine ($160 otd). My insurance went from $85 a month to $185 a month. you may make out better than me cause you did double the speed limit like i did.

Good luck and i hope that helps you.

According to NC traffic laws: 80 mph+ OR 15mph over the posted speed limit is deemed "Wreckless". This comes with the addition of a manditory 30 day minimum suspension of driver's license. Its a manditory 60 days if you get pulled again within one yearfor the same thing OR you were charged with speeding AND wreckless. The DMV can remove your license if you are convicted of speeding and convicted of wreckless driving and/or a conviction of 75mph+.

FWIW.... SC only charges with wreckless if it is 25mph over any posted speed limit. Woo hoo! Another SC FTW!

Without a doubt, you need to get a lawyer. As a future Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer, believe me when I say it is more worth it to pay the few hundred dollars to a lawyer, than taking a smaller fine from the state with a suspended license. And the state is also cracking down harder on all traffic offenses, getting it reduced on your own is going to be near impossible.

i got a wreckless and a speeding ticket 3 weeks ago and a buddy recomended a lawyer named Brad Icard 704 377-9229 and he took care of it, no insurance points speeding was dropped and PJC for the wreckless. Oh yeah did not have an inspection sticker or a current driver liscense, got that stuff fixed and it was dropped as well.

I had to read your post twice...because I thought you got _another_ ticket. You coulda just revived your old thread...folks who posted there would have received notice that it had new posts/activity.

Congrats S2K at 9K. Remember us.
