CA - 2006 S2000 AP2v2 Suzuka Blue with OEM hardtop $20K Firm
First Name: Nick
Price: (Firm/OBO) $20000 Firm
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Contact: PM me for any questions
Current mileage: 123,000 miles (may go up slightly)
I purchased this car from the original owner in Vacaville in 2015, with 120,000 miles on it. The car is in fantastic condition, as the owner used it only for a long distance commute and parked the car in a carport when not driven. The interior shows no rips or tears, I actually replaced the driver's seat with one from a car with only 30,000 miles, and the leather is in fantastic shape.
However, not all was well when I took it to Blacktrax for a PPI. Blacktrax is the bay area's premier S2000 specialist. When I brought it in, the PPI showed low compression on two cylinders. Since I have more money than common sense, I fixed everything with no regard for cost. With a head rebuild, new timing chain tensioner, and brand new OEM clutch, I spent roughly $5000 to make the car perfect. It is perfect. It dynos at 215 HP at the wheels on the Blacktrax dyno, near the top of the range for a stock engine. There are no issues with the valvetrain as it was completely rebuilt. No cracked retainers, no misadjusted lifters, nothing.
The color, Suzuka Blue metallic, is named after the F1 track in Japan. The color was introduced in 2002 but for the final AP2v2 run of S2000s, they were only made in 2006 with an estimated 500 cars for the US market.
I also replaced the soft top with a brand new OEM blue top. Body and paint are in great shape. OEM VIN stickers on all panels except the front bumper, which I replaced with a new OEM bumper because it was pretty beat up. No clearcoat issues, no dings. The trunk is from a different car because the original trunk had holes drilled in it for the ridiculous XM antenna. Since it's a factory painted trunk, color match remains perfect because Honda. In total, I estimate I've spent about $6-7K making the car perfect in the two years that I've owned it. Sadly, I've only driven the car 3,000 miles since I bought it.
It's worth mentioning the factory hard top. Made of aluminum and hand finished by Japanese craftsmen, these are exceptionally rare but provide the kind of fit, finish, and most importantly, the custom glass that only a car manufacturer can provide. I understand they're worth about $4K in great shape.
The anemic factory stereo has been replaced with an Alpine CDE-HD149BT which is currently the best Alpine offers in the single DIN size. It supports HD Radio, bluetooth streaming, and Pandora through an iPhone. Factory remote functions have been preserved with a Modifry interface, and the cell phone is mounted with a Modifry phone mount and Proclip phone holder. There are also Alpine speakers all around. Roll bar speakers are powered by the deck and front speakers are powered by an Alpine MRV-F300 Class D digital amp. There is also an Alpine 10" Subwoofer that is also powered by the amp in bridge mode. The system is clear and not boomy. The subwoofer is in a custom S2000 stealth enclosure that fits in the trunk well. Bridgestone RE970AS tires are in great shape, as are the wheels, with only the most minor curb rash. Factory floor mats are provided, but in the car they are replaced by thicker mats from Ricks2k.com that cover the vulnerable carpeting on the X-Bone crossmembers, which are often worn through as these are not covered by the factory mat. Original windshield was pitted so I had it replaced with OEM Honda glass. The rest of the windows are pristine as expected.
Price is $22,000 OBO which I think is a fair price. Clean title in hand, and car is registered until 2018. I won't lower the price on the pink slip for tax purposes, so budget accordingly. Thanks, I hope this car will go to someone who will really appreciate it.

Don't forget there is also an OEM hard top bud. Plus engine work etc. If you don't like the price then don't reply. I'm sure you'll find a 16k s2k sometime.

I was up front about everything, and this car is in great shape. People can make offers on what they think is fair. 16K is your offer, and I'm going to pass. If it's too expensive, I'll just keep it, but after years of looking I wouldn't say it's 13K. Valve guides wear, clutches too. All that is done. Full PPI from Blacktrax, dyno sheet. It's a unfettered car with no surprises. Some people like that.
Also as far as taxes, like I said, budget your offer accordingly based on what you are willing to pay in total. For instance, if you offered 20K but only want to pay 21K with taxes, offer me 19. Otherwise, I'm the one benefiting and I'm not going to take part in anyone's scheme to defraud the government. That's essentially what happens when a seller offers to write down the price on a title, they pocket the money the buyer would have paid in taxes at registration.
I don't understand why it's anyone's problem but mine if my price is too high. I'm the one who has to deal with it.

There are three possibilities here:
1. My price is too high, and your price is fair. In which case I have a car instead of money.
2. Your offer is too low, and my price is fair, in which case I have a car instead of money.
3. Your offer is fair, and I am willing to accept it, in which case I have an amount of money I deem adequate in exchange for the car, and you get a car that you want.
Since I still have a car and you have hopes and dreams, it's not #3. I saw you lowballing someone else in the forum, with similar results. $13K isn't going to get you an AP2v2 in good condition, so I'd suggest trying to find a fixer upper or getting an older car. I am actually ok with all three, I drove my car around last night and it was great.
Also insulting me is not a great way to negotiate, so I won't sell you the car for any amount of money.
