UnkieTrunkie 03-11-2019 04:41 PM

It looks like we're in for a good week. Partly cloud by Saturday, and I'll take it.

It was still too warm for my S2ki Moderator fleece; I just couldn't go with my single-layer cotton one, that's all. :p

sam_spider 03-14-2019 11:03 AM

lol. Those moderator fleeces are way warm. I've only worn mine once. In Michigan. In the winter.

Top down in San Francisco in the summer, they're quite useful.

There is no place colder than San Francisco in the summer.

. . . the number of sweater vendors proves my point.

Yeah, they're everywhere. Have been for several days. Yesterday, I drove through a swarm of them on our street, then got out of my car and walked through another swarm of them.

I wouldn't worry about it. They know how to get out of the way. There are millions of them making the normal migration from the dry deserts of Mexico to the Cascade range in the Pacific Northwest. The population is outsized this year because of abundant rain and a cooler February, which kept the plants from drying out. An adult butterfly typically only lives a couple of weeks. Their flight north is typically made up of multiple generations, with a butterfly going a certain distance, then laying eggs. Its brood will hatch and continue north. Pretty amazing!
I walked outside just now and saw hundreds of them fly by, all in the same direction.

Season (north of Florida anyway):

winter
fool's spring
road construction (endless)
second winter
spring of deception
third winter
mud season
actual spring
summer
false fall
second summer (1 week)
actual fall

East of Seattle near where Gina used to live. It was unusually hot for that early up in the PacNW. The week before she had enough snow to shovel. Go figure.

On a side note she grew up in Temple City and Arcadia down in your neck of the woods.
