Default Transmission work in Philly area

MY07 that I track with about 100k miles on it w/ a supercharger appears to have its transmission failing to the point it needs serous work. Components in the clutch went on the track and what went from minor transmission noises before appear to be much worse now. The shop I take it to and trust says it needs to be repaired or replaced, but they would only replace it and can only find new/used options. Are there any shops in the area that would be trusted to rebuild this transmission?

I"m also looking at the racing forum to see if there is a "better" option for something that is going to both be a DD and a taken on the track, so opinions on that are also welcome.

Gear sets can be expensive and the work needs to be precise. I had my 2-3(?) gearset replaced because of a second gear grind and they were like $200. I dropped the trans myself and Billamn installed the gearset for me. I would have never touch the internals of the trans myself w/o adult supervision.

Anyway. because of the cost of the parts many people choose to swap in a new(ish) transmission instead of repairing them. Source a known good AP2 trans and swap it in. That's my $.02

Have you consider running the S2KTakeover with us at NYST on Sept. 17 ? Of course, time is ticking for your repair.

Thanks for the feedback. That matched up with what I've found too in the short time I"ve looked. My repair shop found a used one w/ a 90 day warranty for a reasonable price and I'll go that route. Looks like it should be done in plenty of time to hit that event. Now I just need to convince my better half to let me out there. I've never run at NYST and it appears to be a five hour drive which means an overnight stay on sunday at least and I might have used up those credits with the last three-day event I just finished with PCA schattenbaum.

I can understand you're desire to constantly run with the same group. In your case PCA, in my case NASA but it's also nice to run in an all S2000 event too. Kind like a spec race if you will.
