I got this Lawyer from the folks at the Tail of the Dragon resort. Darryl Brown. Things are looking better now.

From what I understand, Virginia is a speeder's nightmare. Radar detectors are illegal. And I've read about/heard that if you're caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 miles per hour, it's considered a WRECKLESS DRIVING infraction and you go to jail. Seriously. Any of you Virginia residents want to confirm this? It's a pretty state but the penalties can be unreasonable.

Anything 20mph over the posted speed limit is indeed considered reckless driving. Go to jail? Unless you've done something really stupid, you get a ticket just like anyone else. Also VA state troopers tend to try NOT to give reckless driving tickets. That charge seems to be more of a deterrent than a normality.
