The BIG Canadian Drive- RTD19 pre event
Every year our group makes it's way to RTD using routes that rarely go in a straight line. This does add some time to the drive but makes for a more memorable trip. (We do attend to enjoy twisty roads anyway, Eh? )
The lodging has evolved into whole house rentals along the way and as such, it works best if the group is about 10 people(all guys this year). Currently we have 7 cars and 9 guys which means I would like to see one or two more in the group to keep lodging expense down to $50/night/person. (3 nights = $150 ) If you are able to get a few extra days off work This is your chance to partake in our adventure to attend RTD 2019. We hit a few tourist stops along the way (it's not all driving) and lots of twisty roads. We are splitting the drive up into 3 days from Wheeling WV. We start in Buffalo NY Monday morning May 6. Overnights in Wheeling WV Monday, Charleston WV Tuesday and Wytheville VA Wednesday. We will roll into Fontana, Thrusday afternoon. You are on your own from there. If this seems like a great way to meet some new friends and get to the event, PM or comment if you are interested. MAX 2 additional people. It has just worked out that this year, it's all guys joining the Canadians for the trip down. ( Sorry girls , it just doesn't seem fair to throw you in with a pack of wolves unless you have been for-warned) |
Wytheville is in VA big boy. :D

SO....... Our drive down is now posted below. Anyone interested in joining the drive as we wind our way southward? :groove:
We are about 7 cars currently and will be moving well as a group. I have the drives figured out and posted below. We have some small leeway when it comes to room for lodging with some notice if you want to join in. Otherwise, we will see you in Fontana with smiles on our sun burnt faces, and tires that are no longer fresh. |

Dave - Depending on when you leave Sunday, I may join you for the first leg (up to WVA). I was planning on driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, our fun 35 MPH slow drive. Haven't been there since I was a teenager, but driving with friends, on more twisty roads, is always a better option!
