Bourbon tasting
Well, it looks like the NC ABC and/or Fontana has thrown a monkey wrench into one of our favorite get togethers at the Dragon....
No bottles allowed in the lobby....
Well... we still make this happen.... somehow, somewhere...
Stay tuned.....

I have been meaning to bring this up. It seems as though new management is not as lax as the previous on this issue. They have even given us a warning saying that they are cracking down and will fine us or give us the boot as a group if we break the rules. From what I can tell they are serious, and it would be in our best interest to avoid breaking them. Unfortunately, their rules on this include that there cannot be any alcohol in any public area at Fontana. I would think this includes the fire pits and while I doubt that they will police those areas, I would hate to find out that they do. I don't know for sure, but it's possible that they have had something happen in recent years with another group or individual that has led to this crack down and I think would be good for us to respect their wishes.
I am willing to host the tasting at our cabin in hopes that we can avoid any conflict with Fontana and keep ourselves in good standing with them moving forward. I like the idea of hanging out at one of the fire pits, but I'd suggest that the bottle count be kept to a minimum and out of sight in some sort of bag or container. Looking back on last spring I think the trouble might have been magnified by the number of bottles we had out on the coffee table. I brought three which is on me, although at the time, I was not aware that Fontana had an issue with it.
I am going to make a separate thread to inform everyone about the rules and crack down just in case they miss this one.

There is seating for at least 10 to 12 people in the common area of our cabin. That does not include the front porch. There are a few chairs on the porch and I could potentially bring a few folding chairs to make use of that area as well.
Hmmm... I see a lawsuit against Fontana when someone breaks a leg due to a pothole they didn't fill on the way back to the lodge.....
