Default Cherohala Skyway? Drive? Saturday? Yeah.

I'll lead a Saturday drive to Tellico Plains for lunch at Tellico Grains and then onward to the Cherohala Skyway. We'll leave from the Gravel Lot after the Group Drive and picture taking. If you've never driven the Skyway, the road has something for everyone, elevation changes, curves, beautiful scenery. The drive and lunch are roughly 3 hours and we'll be back in plenty of time for the banquet. If you'd like to come along, post below.

Please sign me up for this drive, Funny story I got about 20 min into this drive over the winter and had to turn around. Was traveling from VA to AL after my new engine was put in and could not pass up the Tail of the dragon and this drive as well. Had to work my way back down south to get out of the mountains and back home to AL. Look forward to the run. Thanks (Phil Wendling)

If you were at Inline Pro last weekend (last weekend in January), I was there as well. Welcome to the Cherry Cola (okay, Cherohala) drive, Phil.

I was at Inline Pro, but in December. I shipped my car up there and they put in a new stroker engine. I flew to VA on Friday December 22nd and drove to Kingsport TN. that same day. On Saturday December 23rd I drove to Knoxville then went south to the dragon. It was great because no one was on the road, Some of the turns were a little wet especially in the shade, and it was my first time driving the Dragon it and I went all the way to the lodge. I was heading to Huntsville AL. so I needed to make my way west from there. Unfortunately the skyway had snow toward the top so I had to find another way around (I did drive up the skyway for about 20 min). It was a little nerve wracking with no cell/data service trying to find an alternate route, but I found my way through Murphy and on to Chattanooga. Look forward to the drive, see you soon.

That's the beauty of the Garmin GPS app for the iPhone. It stores all of the maps on the phone. I can set a route, detour or just trail blaze in comfort without cell phone service.
