Dragon Events Tail of the Dragon (Highway US129) 318 curves in 11 miles, is America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.

Going forward, is there a better date for RTD?

Looks like we didn't get a lot of rooms this year for RTD.... A few or number of us will probably be skipping the event due to the lack of lodge rooms....

Going forward, is there a different weekend that would allow us to reserve more rooms?

Not Mothers/Fathers day weekends....

I know with the S2000 numbers decreasing, its difficult to book rooms..... maybe we take the venue to some other good driving roads?

Just a thought... doesn't have to be the Dragon.... so many other good roads around.

Just my two cents worth....

Just a couple of questions about the event and Fontana. With the cost increases and the event drawing smaller crowds should we start looking into other locations for the event. We don’t come close in filling the place up and like all business they start promoting the property to others. Which you can’t blame them. We do appreciate all the work that you both do for the group and the event.

Agreed 100% with not over Mothers Day/Father's Day, never understood why that was a thing for several years, prevented me (and others) from being able to make it.

I think we just need to REALLY plan ahead (like, book it for the following year while at DFR, pretty sure that's how it was managed before, we'll just need to know dates for RTD by then) for Fontana if we're going to get it locked in. With the dragon seemingly more popular with each passing year, I don't know that changing weekends is going to get much of a better outcome, it's just busy every weekend there.

Its not like many drive the Dragon back and forth a few times while we are down there.... early on, used to do the Dragon back and forth 5-7 times a day, before there was traffic on it...

So many good roads south and west of the Dragon.....

Need to find a place that can handle 40-70 cars.... at a reasonable rate, and not be scattered all over the property.

Agreed, the dragon could still be a stop for the trip if desired, but we have a gathering point elsewhere. Plus as you said, many of great roads in the area.

The first S2KDays was hosted in Ashville... as well as the 10th anniversary. Several of us were there for that first meet.

I believe it was at Ashville (and I wasn't there)!
