Default GoPro's were so 2011

I made the investment into one of these last night after talking to Killboy about it. I was about to buy the DJI Air ($799), but he said for my purposes, the Spark (at a price point of $349) will do just fine. Who else will be bringing one to WTD?! I would also like to take this moment to thank Ron McCoy for starting me on this

Think I'll remain old fashioned and bring the 3 GoPro's.

good choice for static shots and interesting cuts, but something tells me it won't keep up to me at speed

I don't think a USAF Predator Drone could keep up with at speed.

It has a tracking feature, but I don't think the obstacle detection will respond fast enough to all those trees

I played around with it this weekend, and it's super fun! Would be cool for shots on the Cherohala and what Ron did at the Monster Roll Out last year (two years ago?) .

Battery life is an issue. Most won't get more than 20 minutes in the air. For the Dragon, in Follow Me mode, that might do it. As you say, keeping the pitch and angle consistent, so oncoming traffic, or trees/hillside won't cause a crash/backup.

Been looking at this solution for 3 years and the technology (battery life) hasn't caught up with out type of activity.

At BMT last Fall, they did a hovering video shot for cars passing by (the video is on their S2Ki page https://www.s2ki.com/forums/bmt-bost...-tour-1180678/). I see that as the best use of drones, until speed and battery life are at the level they become useful to us.
