Your route is 95% or more on straight highway, all the way past Almond, NC. My route is about 80-85% straight highway up to Kodak, TN. From there it's backroads through Gatlinburg and the dragon down to Fontana. It's the price I pay for not getting there on Wednesday.

Did about 400 miles yesterday from Birmingham, AL to Seneca, SC mainly all back roads and no super slab. Starting Day 2 at the beginning of 28 (Hellbender) and heading another 400 miles to just south of The Snake on US 421 in Mountain City, TN via Little Switzerland, NC. Hooking up with those crazy Canadians on Wednesday in Marion,Va before heading back down to FV on Thursday. The direct route is 500 miles (8 hours) Mobile, Al. All super slab and no fun.

Don't let the Canadians fool you. There miles are different than ours. With the conversion rate they only go 150 miles.

I've done that kind of trip to Fontana..I want to get there so that I can see the passenger seat in my car and not feel like I'm driving a UPS van.

If you're coming on Wednesday, you should get in touch with Harry (hecase), he's in Chicago.
