Dragon Events Tail of the Dragon (Highway US129) 318 curves in 11 miles, is America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.

If you could only drive one road , which one would it be ?

If you could only drive one road in the region of the Dragon, which one would you choose ? With my limited time down there I could only take in a couple of drives. If I can return next year I can better plan other roads.

Oddly enough I had most fun driving 28 between Fontana Village and Deals Gap. While the tight twisties of the Dragon are very unique, I really liked hitting the higher speed curves most.

My favorite is Moonshiner (I think that is what this section is called!)..... farther out on 28. After you turn right from the 4 lane road at the gas station!

+1 but you have to go all the way down to Bridal Veil falls, some of the best parts are down toward the end where it's cut into the side of the mountain - sheer rock face on one side, short stone wall & sheer drop on the other

Thanks for the replies !. I missed a good opportunity to drive the Moonshiner, in favour of a trip to Clingman's Dome.

I really liked driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, but the speed limit issue took away some of the fun.

The few times I've been down there there's too much traffic. Fun road though.

I would say all of 28 from Deals Gap to Franklin. You get just about all the types of curves and hills doing that road. High speed from Deals to Fontana and twisties from Hwy 74 to Franklin.

^ thanks for all of the replies. On the next visit I should be able to fit all of those roads into my schedule now that I have some of the basic roads out of the way. Thanks
