Pulled into the garage today at 4:00pm. We took a little side trip yesterday and stayed in the area. Good to be home.

Got home at 3:15 this afternoon, after spending Mother’s Day at my son’s home in Greensboro on the way back.

You mean we didn't bore her to death? That's great news.

3025 miles total for me this year. The 16 hour drive home does suck though. Realized I drive right by the back of the dragon on the way home. Might make for a less painful experience

I made it a point this time to do Back of the Dragon AND The Snake on BOTH the way down and yesterday on the way back. Would have been a LOT more fun without all the weight, luggage and bicycle hanging on the Race Chase hitch out back but it made for something to look forward to along the way, crazy drive home for me too.
Left FDR at 8:30am and made it home at 12:30am so 16 hours for me too.

As I posted on the FB page below: Rock the Dragon 2018
2250 (exactly) miles, 108 gallons of 93 @ $350’ish, 44 driving hours @ 51mph average (think about that!) and a nearly finished set of near new Bridgestones in six days. RT-16 Back of the Dragon-both ways, twice, RT-58 Jeb Stuart Hwy to RT-421 The Snake-both ways, RT-116 Devil’s Triangle-both ways, RT-28+ to Caffe Rel with Mike, then Bryson City for Nantahala Brewing and then Highlands for Bridal Falls blasting back with Aaron’s group of misfits, Hoberts Bald, Cherohala Skyway twice, both Stargazing with Adnan and Day Blast w/Bald River Falls with Bama Dave, and of course Hellbender and The Dragon many times.

I really had a great time this week, I came down once before in 2015 with my “new to me” and heavily modded ’07 baby. Near the beginning of everything at Devil’s Triangle on Thursday I split my Full-Race manifold and spent all day Friday getting it welded and put back together. I missed a lot of the events so was thrilled with the May date so I could make it again this year.

Took a crazy route home leaving at 8:30am so I could hit The Snake and Back of the Dragon the second times. 28-74-19-441 stopping at Clingman’s Dome then to Gatlinburg & BBQ for lunch. Then 321-107-173-321-67 to Mountain City. Then 421-The Snake to 44-75 & 81 to Marion for Back of the Dragon both ways, Roanoke for dinner and then home @ 12:30am for a sixteen hour trip instead of about ten. Greeted back in Maryland/Harper’s Ferry WVA with the ONLY actual and real rain of my entire six days, had to put the top up for the final hour so 43 of 44 hours all top down!

Tried to really pack it all in, fantastic life experience, made many new friends and rekindled others from 2015, and the most amazing thing is you can drive a Honda S2000 like you stole it for hour after hour, over mountains and hairpins, in V-TEC for climb after climb and you arrive home with the same car you left with. Changed the oil and filter today and got a close look at some very “toast” tires. One heat shield bolt is missing from my header (??), my tires are scrubbed to dry track day status, and have some really deep and nasty stone chips but these cars are meant for these roads and to be driven like I just did! Spectacular trip!

I left at 5:30am, took a more scenic route (28 to 74 to 441). Hit the good stuff on 441 right at sunrise and had a blast and got some great pictures. Once i hit 81 I went straight to PA only stopping twice for fuel. I got home around 4:!5.

Clutch had been making some bad sounds since the event started..... finally gave up at the end of the Foothill Parkway on our way home.

Car will be towed to Airport Honda in the morning.
Any updates on the clutch?

Parts should have arrived today..... but the tech who is working on it has tomorrow off for some family commitments....

Flywheel is being sent out for re-surfacing.....

Hoping I can get it Thursday or Friday... have my fingers crossed!

Keep that pace up and you will be ready to join in the Canadian Drives.
