Message from Raul (airgate)

S2000 Dragon Lovers,

I'm writing to share some news...for one, DBR 2016, originally scheduled for September 30th-October 2nd, is now cancelled. Also, WTD 2017 will not be scheduled.

As you know, planning any event takes a lot of time (and energy) and while I do love putting an event together, I also realize these event dates are very close to other Honda S2000 events currently hosted by Ken (and Mike).

Tradition has always held WTD (Wake the Dragon), our annual spring event, on the 3rd weekend of April and DBR (DragonBall Run), our annual fall event, on the 3rd weekend of September.

For reasons unknown (yet anyone could speculate), these dates were taken for 2 other events.

I will not work to divide our community. Sure, Ken and I don't see eye to eye but that's not something that should be (or will be) played out here, over and over again.
These annual events ARE important. They mark an amazing time for us to gather, see one another, laugh, drive an amazing road and LIVE.
It's not all about our S2000s...or even the Dragon. It's the COMMUNITY, the people that make any of these events memorable and enjoyable.

With all this shared, I encourage you to check out the next "Fall" event on the Dragon that Ken (and I believe Mike) are hosting. I've pinned the topic and will continue to help in day-to-day forum administration.

Best always,

-Raul (airgate)

Damn, that sucks to hear Raul, was really looking forward to the Tapoco event again. But I understand the issue.

No bueno, but I'll still use those dates as motivation to get the car fixed by.

DBR 2017, I'll be there.

I just had a baby so probably will be missing my 2nd WTD event in 10 years. Wtd has been one of my favorite trips every year. I appreciate Raul creating this event that I have loved and made new friends at. I hope in the future the S2k community can come back together to what it once was. Unfortunately social media has made people say things and act disgraceful towards friends that once would never happen.

There will be a 2017 event, just not by him.

<div>First, congrats on the baby. Boy or girl? Second, both DFR and RTD have been planned for over a year. (Contracts signed for both events in April 2015 so that room rates could be guaranteed and everyone could be accommodated at one venue). I'm pretty sure you've attended the RtD and DFR events so you know that the things that you look forward to will be there and I guarantee they will still be there. I plan at least a year in advance to make sure that accommodations, food, drives, are all in place in plenty of time. Nothing is left to the last minute., Changes are made but not for the sake of change, only to make sure the Dragon events are better for everyone.
