Default 2025 Reviving The Friday 4:30pm FCPD Drive

Hello all,
In my first event in 2010, I arrived at Fontana excited and ready to join the storied S2k Dragon event. As I pulled up around 3:30pm, a group of distinguished gentlemen invited me on the FCPD (Fluffy Clouds and Puppy Dogs) drive. I was thrilled. I had just bought my first manual car, the s2000, months before and driving the mountains alone and practicing.

Soon after, as we started the drive, I still remember another newbie gave it a little too much gas and the cold tires didn't grip. He wrapped himself around the first tree almost before the drive even started. Weekend ruined.... So be careful if you're a new driver or the roads are new to you because this drive may not be for you. About 15 seconds into the drive, I realized this was not a drive for me. I pulled off and let everyone pass. I became tail gunner and followed the group carefully.

About half way through, one of the passengers in one s2k got sick and threw up in her husband's ball cap. I volunteered on the radio to escort them back. Several other cars and I made it back to Fontana at a slower pace.

If you read all that and you're still interested in this drive, please join us as we depart at 4:30pm Friday from infront of Wildwood Grill. The drive will be lead by @vanDiemen and I will tail gun because after 15+ years with this car, I'm still slow! Sign up below.

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE TO 4:30PM Departure @ WILDWOOD GRILL PARKING LOT

1.) vanDiemen (Emil) - Leader
2.) Ed
3.) Billman250 (in person / in spirit?)
4.) GaryS (maybe?)
5.)
6.)
7.)
8.) PwrinxS (Adnan) - Tail Gunner

Best drive ever, when it’s great its great

I always slow everyone down for the 180 degree right hand turn, on Hellbender, on the way to the Dragon from Fontana. Its the only turn like it. It is clearly marked, and yet catches many off guard.

I'm not convinced you and slow others down belong in the same sentence!

Does this mean that @Billman250 is coming down and I should sign him up as group leader?

Adnan, thanks for reviving this, it was my favorite drive historically.

(sorry about that vomit)

@Billman250 are you coming this year, haven’t checked the signup list. Would be awesome to have you join this drive.
anyway, plans are to drive the dragon and back to Fontana; we cam be open for side quests if there’s time,
I’d like to limit this to 7-8 cars, with past experience of these roads.

look forward to this as well as the weekend.

Default Fcpd route?

This is my first rtd, though I’ve done a bunch of civic events up there. What route is this drive? I’m still figuring out my Friday drive plan. I don’t see the actual route in the thread. Thanks all!

If this is your first event.... I'd stay away from this drive.....

The MF's on this drive are just crazy (but really good drivers with a LOT of experience on these roads!)! lol

first RTD event. Last 4 civic wake the dragon events in both my Si and my S. I’m quick and used to driving up there. That said so have my limits. I prefer quick on the corners and not balls out on the straights.

I’m still confused what this route is. Anyone have waypoints or a map so I can visualize it? In between this and the byway route. The by way one looks awesome just a very long day.
