Default RTD 2024 - Bring back the Poker run?

Been thinking about bringing back some of the old flair of when the event was new and doing a poker run. Everyone that signs up chips in a certain amount of money, maybe you can buy an extra card right at the end?
The best hand gets half of the proceeds, and the other half to charity?

I have a general idea for some cool destinations but would need some volunteers to hang out at some of these locations + would need a good amount of cars to sign up for the event to make it worth the effort.

Thoughts? It could be something we do any day but perhaps Saturday to reveal the winner at the banquet.

Oh heck yeah..... Kathy & I will man one of the spots....

Great way to meet people.....

Instead of just bucks... lets see if we can get some prizes....

I'll chip in a bottle of bourbon for a prize! (just remind me) (won't find this bottle at a store near you!)

Announcing the winners at the banquet is a great idea......

When LINESUPER (David) this at previous events.... it was a hit...

Just need some prizes... instead of one winner taking all....

Would be willing to man another location if this happens.

I may suggest a drive that is going to last 3-4 hours so those people at the poker card draw spots don't have to sit around for hours. Although I can't make the spring event, but plan on making the fall event, I think a poker run is a good idea. It would allow for people to explore a newer drive that they may not have otherwise tried.

If you're looking for a shorter drive, you could do a Texas holdem' style, where each car gets 2 cards to start before they leave the parking lot, then only 3 more cards to draw (hence only 3 locations to man).

I would be down for this. I think I had briefly mentioned doing this with the plan to donate to Blount county ems.

That's a great idea Darcy. Maybe a $20 buy in per hand with half of the money going to Blount County Fire and Rescue.

I like that idea. I don't know how many new destinations are out there within a 3-4 hour drive though but I'm sure we can make it work. Probably put a timer on locations too so folks don't have to be there all day

That was what I was thinking. A few donated prizes, some cash and some money for charity would be a nice thing to do for the area
