Default S2000 CR

Y'all,

Does anyone who has a S2000 CR have any kind of comments to make about their S2000 CR?

I was just informed that mine just arrived in San Diego and should arrive in FL within two weeks.

I am having second thoughts, only because it is a removable hard top which somewhat limits what I can do.

Example: when leaving FL in April for the Dragon, if weather is nice I want to be able to go topless - but if weather turns then I want to be able to put top up, not on, as I don't believe it (top) will fit in trunk.

Also, please advise as to what you paid for it - if you don't mind!

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The CR's top is a standard aluminum hardtop - it weighs roughly 60lbs. and will _NOT_ fit anywhere on your S2000 except for where it mounts. I like you considered the CR, but one of the things about the S2000 that gets me to is the top down driving...the other is the handling.

Hope that helps.

The top is aluminium and weighs 44 lb. Standard top. There are things I really like about the CR, but these are things that can be done to a stock "S" with aftermarket bolt ons for the most part. The steering is quicker by design and I believe that the CR steering rack can replace ours as well. Anyway, I hope someone brings a CR tot he dragon this year, just so the rest of us can

Everything else is so interchangeable that I wonder why you couldn't put a vinyl top on the CR if you wanted to. If I understand correctly, the reason for the removal is a chassis brace which has been placed where the top would stow. The brace is removable so anyone with a little know-how would be able to make the conversion if they were so inclined.

If anyone knows something I'm missing that would prevent it -- post up. I'm interested if anyone else has given this thought. The CR's have grown on me. As my AP1 ages I've got to start thinking what my next step will be.

Do what some people have done when they are down there... toss the hardtop in the hotel room... I know guys from Ohio that have left their hardtop in their bedroom and drove the Dragon top down

As for pricing and whatnot, check the s2000 talk forum..there is a lot of information out there.

Good luck

that is something I may well do, if there is going to be a dent removal available. I have small dent in my Hardtop (self inflicted wound ) If I wear the top down, I could have the dent popped while I run the Dragon.

S2K-Dragon,

I have a CR and I really love it. I will have it at the WTD 08 event and intend to drive it from Indiana or Nashville. If you haven't got one by then, you are welcome to play with mine. Just be gentle!!

I am going to try and see if someone will make a toneau cover like the old english sports cars had. They zip down the middle and allow one or both sides of the cockpit to be covered. Can't be that hard to do??

I love the handling and performance very much. I have taken one 1,200 mile road trip with it so far and I was really surprised how comfortable it was and what great gas mileage it gets. Mine was never intended to be a daily driver and that is a question you would seriously have to ask yourself. Around town, it rides very stiff and for this old fart, I tease about needing a kidney belt. Indiana has freeze cracks in the road what seems like every ten feet and it really wears on you after awhile. I'm a big guy and smacking my head on the hardtop every time I get in and out gets old too. But once you're inside, it's all love.

Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions or if you want me to bring it down to Nashville for you to play with. I am down there about every other week right now and it is no big deal to throw it in the trailer.

Good luck with your decision.
