Anyone ever contemplated buying a cheap cabin down there? What issues would there be with this being an investment/equity opportunity other than standard renovations?

I would be concerned about vandalism.....

But, maybe people would just leave it alone.

Would you be renting it out while you are not there?

If so, figure redoing the interior yearly due to people using the place and not taking care of the place.

If renting, need to figure the tax implication, cleaning service at the end of every rental, etc.

If I ever did this (and that's a big IF but did clear it with the Mrs.), I would rent to people I knew...not just any old coot Hopefully my friends would respect the place enough to not trash the place.

I don't think I could afford a place down there....

Tires every 2nd or 3rd week......

Gas every day.....

Oil changes every month or two.....
