Things to bring with you on the Dragon
Just back from Summer Dragon. For a Newbie going to the Dragon with the S2000 group... a couple of additional things to consider:
I travel a bit and am used to staying a hotels. Fontana is NOT a hotel, but a National Park, with rooms. You are out in The Woods.
Speaking of The Woods... things I would take:
- DEET! I prefer OFF! Deep Woods Dry. The flying bugs at some of the overlooks are intense!
- Sunscreen - with an S2000, it goes wothout saying. Top down driving is the only way to go!
- FOOD! A wonderful S2000 Mom offered me a Blueberry Fig bar Friday morning, before I knew that the Deals Gap Cafe was open at 0700. The Fontana dining room opens at 0800. The Drives start at 0800.
- Stuff to clean your car! They have a hose you can wet/wash, but bring what you deem appropriate to wash your car, after a heavy day of spitited (moderate/easy) driving in the TN/NC countryside. You'll want to have your car looking nice at the Friday dinner, whether the dinner is at the ballfield or on the patio.
Now I know, and I'm ready for the next Dragon event. And There Will Be Another Dragon Event!

The majority of the folks that go on the Atlanta club drives have headsets for their talk-about radios. We also used them on the OBX run. They help A LOT because you can keep both hands on the wheel easier. I think they are pretty cheap (like $10?). It would be worth it!
