What I learned at RTD 2018...

Being part of the Canadian Contingent, a tradition with our provincial autoslalom, is a WIL thread after the event. So here is what I learned at RTD 2018.
1. holding the event in May was money!
2. Bama Dave knows stuff. Thanks, Dave- appreciate the advice.
3. enthusiasm is infectious- it was great to meet new RTD attendees, and relive my initial feelings of this event thru them- I hope they come back next year.
4. When you have car trouble, your s2000 friends stick around by the side of the road, in the 85 degree heat to help you out- thanks guys.
5. Eventually, after 7 RTD events, you WILL need you tools you've been carting around in your trunk to help you on the side of the road in the 85 degree heat.
6. myflys2k's s2000's brakes make massive sparks and look super cool at night while blasting about Fontana Dam!
7. you can never eat too much southern BBQ...but I already knew that.

If your clutch starts making noise, don't put replacing it off, replace it soon!

1. The S2000 community is freaking awesome.
2. Billman helped diagnosis the problem with the starter and talked John and I through trying to get it possible working again.
3. Then Ken, Denny, and David to see if we could get a replacement starter from Jeff (Hardtop Guy) Hope he is well. Updates?
3. Rolling starts in an S2000 are very easy to do.
4. Don't really need much speed to start the car. Mountains are your friend.
5. Thanks Darcy but again the S2000 community is awesome. Just passing information from other S2000 owners.

I learned if you give a girl a bottle of syrup, it is not that hard to get a hug.
I learned that if you lead a pair of girls on a drive, it is not that hard to get a hug. :argh:
I learned if you see a several girls you drove to the Grand Canyon with, it is easy to get a hug. :wine:
I learned if you see a girl who might have had a little bit to drink in the Lobby, it is really really easy to get two hugs. :hyper:

Mmmmm. maybe I learned girls just like hugs.

I learned there really are bears and elk in the area
I learned the best soft serve ice cream ever is in Cades Cove
I learned I can walk up a mountain again
I learned I really can keep up
I learned bringing extra fruit was good because I could share with new friends
I learned it is fun not to be a newbie so I could welcome newbies and see their excitement
I re-learned what a great group of people this is!

You mean like this one that was supposed to make it into the banquet presentation?

Yep!

I learned that I have totally missed out on a fantastic event for too many years.
That only a special car can bring together such a diverse and awesome group of people from all over North America.
That being an original owner is pretty rare.
That next year I will have different tires. (Already have purchased a second set of wheels - stock of course)
