Civic Type R Swap
I know the car just came out but I would love to see that engine in this platform. It's a turbocharged engine right out of the box with a higher reliability and lower maintainability than any modified F20. Thoughts?

Anything can be done with enough money and know how. We just need to make sure the engine and transmission will fit. I think it would be easier to just K swap and turbo.
|
I'm not familiar with that engine but what's it's reliability and serviceability like with FI?
|
K24 is a very popular and very reliable engine to swap into. Many parts are made for it. It responds very well to FI.

No advantage. It isnt a better motor. There is a reason a stock unopened F series have gone so fast. K series or F series will be the pinnacle of honda motor evolution now in this new world of emissions. The reason the Civic is now forced induction is not because of performance but rather because there was no way they could keep their mpg goals, emissions, and cost without going FI. The positive side effect is that it makes a 3-400hp a easily attainable thing, the negative is the motors are no where near built to the edge of performance they were previously because they can leverage FI.

With the right contacts and some $$$$ ......
Or is this from the last CTR we didn't get here? https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...fadaf61c21.jpg |

Cheaper to turbo or pro charge/ super charge the F engine. No? Also more power
|
I for one, cant wait until someone does this. I also just saw that Honda is offering this engine as a crate engine. I would love to see this transplant.
I am also surprised that i have never seen nor heard of anyone ever swapping the turbo engine from a RDX into the s2k. |
HPD has had a 3.7 in a S2000 for quite a while, it's a beast.
