Default coming to europe to drive my S

Hi folks , just wanted to express my delight at the prospect of driving my '01 s2000 on the wonderful roads in europe. I'm being sent to my next assignment in Germany in about 2 1/2 months. I'll ship the car in the middle of january. I'm A little worried about the treatment my car will get . It will be transported from here in Alaska to Washington state, then across all the way to the east coast to hop on a ship to cross the Atlantic. Then some port in Europe and finally Germany. Wonder how many scratches she'll have when the trips through Well anyway, just wanted to say hello. I've read many of your posts in the last few months and might get a chance to ride with some of your fine automobiles. catch you all later.

And you will be around the same distance away from N

Hi RTR,

as a member of the 1st German-S2000-Owner's-Club I'd like to welcome You to Germany, the land of still some off-limits-150 mls/hr-and-more-highways.

I'm currently situated in Mainz, that's approx. 60 km from Kaiserslautern. We are planning some little one or two-day-trips early next year. In case, You would like to have some fun with us, please send me your E-Mail-address to stay in contact.

Greetings from the old world

Pete

RTR - that's gonna be a big trip for your car. Make 100% certain you go over the shipping form when dropping it off. You'll need it to claim any damage to your car. I don't know if the theft problem is down from when I shipped a car in '93 but make sure you take out anything that can come out (including tools, aftermarket stereo equip, etc.)

Enjoy k-town and Ramstein - it's a pretty nice location anf the 'bahn between there and Mainz was pretty empty when I was there allowing for some nice runs. Most of all, get to know the German traffic laws well - there are some significant differences which take getting used to( e.g. right of way goes to the car to your right at an intersection)

And one of our European members can correct me if I'm wrong, but if you get in an accident over a certain speed (130kmph, I think) even in an "unlimited" zone, you'll be held in contributory negligence (if you live). In other words - be safe.... and enjoy!

Thanks for your info, and yes I'm looking forward to the autobahn. I'll be sure to yield when necessary and not crush anyone when I'm exceeding 130 klicks.
