Soft top replacement fit issues and question AP2>AP1
 

Hi Guys,

I just bought a S2000 about two weeks ago and I must say that it look absolutely stunning next to my CBR1000rr repsol :)

I now actually have a problem with my roof. The previous owner did;nt really took care of her softtop and it had a couple of crack als holes in it. Because of these cracks (and the faded plastic window) I decided to replace the top.

I had the opportunity to buy a newer softop from an AP 2 (I own a AP1) with the glass window including the frame. I already have spent some time in unmounting everything but when i placed the top i noticed that my top isn;t closing ?! It doesnt fit at the frontwindow and at my windows on the drivers and passengers side? It looks like it should lower more but it doesnt. Also the latch on the driver side doesn;t seem in line with the hole??

Is there anyone who faced the same problem and knows how i could tackel this problem. I read that the AP2 roof should fit an AP1 also so im very surprised about this al?

Hi Pri,

The top of the S2000 changed slightly after 2002, not only the window, but some frames as well. I never have done the change, but I am in the same situation as you are, I need to change mines soon...

thank for the reply.

I found out what seemed to be the problem. I only tightened the bolts on the sides of the car of the softtop. When you do that there is not enough tension so you also need to tighten the bolts at the trunk!
Mine fits quite well now, I think its still tight because i just put it up. It needs some time
