Default Gateway 2012 Pre-Summer Day Run

Gateway Members - Interested in putting some miles on your car on some nice Missouri windies and twisties? I've got the day run for you. This 235 mile round trip run will take us out to Hermann on 94 then south on Route 19 just south of Steelville. Through the Mark Twayne National Forest preserve (without gravel roads). Stop in the Forest Preserves for lunch (after about 135 miles-blue and green intersection on map) then into Potosi and back north on Route 185 back into Washington for another 100 miles.

Pack and bring your lunch and drinks.

We will be meeting at our regular 94 & 40 Park and Ride - West side (KC side) of route 94

Date: Saturday 6/2
Meeting Time: 8:45
Leaving: 9:00
Estimated Return Time: 2:00

The map below outlines the trip. (Double click to enlarge)

I took 94 out to Hermann yesterday and it was probably the most fun I've ever had in my car. Wish I could go but I'm busy that day.

Louise and I may be up for the first part of the run....I don't think we can get that close to Montauk without going trout fishing...so, if she's off work that day, we'll join in for the first half. If she does have to work, I'll be in for the whole deal.

If 94 got you excited, you've not seen anything yet. The entire 235 miles of this trip is all "Route 94 Type" driving or better. Can your plans be changed? No worries. Sorry if you can't mke it. We'll have some other runs I'm sure.

Let me know the details. If you want to bow out earlier to head to Montauk, I'll be happy to find you an alternate route.

So... Whether half way or all the way, glad to have ya!

Really wish I could but there's no way. Next time, though, I'm in.

Mike,
If we do head to Montauk, we'll peel off at Cherryville and stay on 19 into Salem. If you've never driven that part of 19, you owe it to yourself...some good driving road right there.
Looking forward to the drive and meeting you.

That will be an incredible drive. I am in! I only get about 200 miles out of a tank in my car, so I'll have to stop along the way to get gas though.
