New Tires
Hi Friends,
It's been awhile. I hope to see everyone soon. In about a month or so, I will need to purchase 4 new tires for my MY01. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I have the original Potenza 02 now, what should I get? Keep in mind, I am not going to race. I am looking for a moderately priced good tire. Thanks.

Just my opinion for someone who wants a moderate priced option:
front: 205 50 16 kumho ecsta asx $87.98 at sears
rear: 245 45 16 kumho ecsta asx price not on sears website, but they sell that size kumho ecsta asx. you'll have to call them for the price on the rears.
Wait for Sears next sale and combine that with one of their 10% off coupons for a great price.
At their low price and how long our tires last, I'd roll the dice and not buy the warranty to save some more money.....they probably want the price of one tire for the warranty.
Good luck.

I've Got Potenza S03's on MY03.
Tread width in is 7.6" front, 8.3" rear and they weigh in about 24 and 26 lbs brand new respectively. size is OEM (205/55 and 225/50)
Definetly do NOT recommend them for a daily driver - on a cold dry day you need to warm them up a bit b4 leaning into the pedal too hard. I imagine they would get rather lively on a wet surface, even though they have 'compound z to aid in wet weather performance'...

Personally, I love the S03s. Have them on many of my cars. The only complaints that I would make about them are restricted to noise and wear rate though.
Grip is great, and I've never noticed any warm up related issues. Heck, I was just at Roebling Road in GA on them and wasn't being particularly careful on the warm up lap because of grip related issues.
As I said though, they are kind of loud - and they don't last real long. Considering the cost of these tires, they don't match up with this owner's needs real well.

Dave, your choices for tires are OEM 205 55 16 fr and 225 50 16 rear or what many of our members are recommending and what you probably saw in the tire section (if not buying S-02's) 205 50 16 fr and 245 45 16 rear. The 245's give you the same patch as a 225 S-02.
Best of luck.
