Side Strakes Equipped!
I posted this in the modification section of the main forum but I know some people don't frequent the other sections so I figured I'd post here too:
I've had a set of brand new OEM side strakes sitting in my basement forever and with the King Motorsports BBQ is coming up in a couple of weekends, I finally stopped procrastinating and installed them today... I was kind of lazy and only jacked up the rear... check how low the front looked: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4582_IMG.jpg I pretty much followed the OEM instructors step by step... I removed the rear wheels, cleaned the area and question and proceed to measure the 24mm from the seal line towards the rear: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4583_IMG.jpg I used masking tape to insure that I have straight line (I measured 24mm on towards the top of the tape too): http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4584_IMG.jpg I used the supplied template to mark the drill point underneath the car: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4585_IMG.jpg Please note, the 'B' template is for the drill hole for the side of the car which I opted not to do. I'm relying on the 3M double sided tape to keep it held on the car. Drill hole: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4587_IMG.jpg First hole (3mm): http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4589_IMG.jpg Second hole (8mm): http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4590_IMG.jpg Third hole (10mm): http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4592_IMG.jpg Lock nut that needs to be used in the hole: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4594_IMG.jpg Once the 6mm screw is inserted in, the nut will lock in... http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4595_IMG.jpg I couldn't find the touch up paint for the S2000 so I used the red one for the Prelude: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4598_IMG.jpg Nut and screw installed: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4600_IMG.jpg Lower side strake partially installed: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4602_IMG.jpg Clamps... http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4604_IMG.jpg http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4606_IMG.jpg Upper strakes temporary mounted to mark the mounting points: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4607_IMG.jpg Cushion pads installed... note, I used masking tape to keep track where the mounting points: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4611_IMG.jpg Clamps installed: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4613_IMG.jpg Removing the backing for the double sided tape and voila, side strake mounted: http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4615_IMG.jpg http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4616_IMG.jpg http://www.chillybanana.com/pictures...0-4617_IMG.jpg Keith |

Hey Kamal, no Ali and I had to attend a wedding shower for her best friend. I think we might be targeting the Wednesday event in July with the SCCA. Are you planning on attending? Keith |
Looks good. What kind of lense/setting did you use in the last two shots? Those look wicked!
|
I love your car Keith so so clean!
