One of my colleagues just went around and gave us all eclipse glasses. Given that I'll be driving home around that time, I guess I should pull over before I put them on.

And... It just dawned on me... I totally should have driven the S today.

I thought that the people that were weeping in the streets or otherwise totally loosing their shit were a little silly but I have to admit that it was one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time.

I went outside just before the peak here and looked at it through the glasses for a few seconds then through a pin-hole camera a colleague brought in - you could see the eclipse clearly in both - then bolted for home. Kinda like what Alex said, the quality of the light had a sort of stormy-ness to it and was very odd. It didn't last very long at all - maybe 10 minutes? - and it was gone. I got home in record time (under an hour! unheard of!) because everybody was looking up while I was moving west.

All and all... Super cool and I am glad I got to experience even the 83% (I think) totality. But I'm also glad that I didn't loose my mind or fall to my knees weeping.
