We went through a local Nashville bank and they sold it to BofA. When we moved to current house in 2006. We just went with Suntrust all the way.

It was the originators that made the mess. "Oh? You have a minimum wage, part time job? Sure you can afford a $500,000 house! I'll hook you right up!"

I blame realtors equally for the mess up here. House prices went up way too quickly and by too much. Pretty much everyone who bought a house in 2002-2004 up here is screwed. We're still upside down by $30k from what we paid for ours 15 years ago. We'd love to move, but I just can't bring myself to lose that much money.

Ours got sold a couple times as well. I suppose as long as my rate doesn't change it doesn't matter.
