Duke is a general practitioner and I tried to go to him once and that went nowhere. I can understand the do not want to see personal friends as patients thing though.

I dunno... An eye exam is tough to eff up so, to me, it all comes down to bedside manner. Pick one on the interwebs that doesn't have horrible reviews and give them a try. Sure you are going to be out your co-pay (which SUCKS) but you get to test drive them. If you don't like what they say or how they treat you, you do it again with a different shop.

IMHO, the risk is pretty low. Ain't like the doc is going to cut you on the first visit.
