The sit around longer and get more staler. So the taste is the same, it is just the freshness that is gone.

...it's either that or it's the whole "you're older and your taste buds don't taste as well as they used to" kinda thing.

I wasn't being quite that literal. When you are little, your world is little. You haven't tried many things or done a lot so that little PEZ in that little world seems extraordinary. Now that we have tried more, the scale that you are using to measure that PEZ is bigger and, maybe, the PEZ is further to the left? I dunno... Just a theory.

Or perhaps just replaced by something newer and better? You know what they say... "You can never go back."

I don't remember how I felt about PEZ like 30 years ago but the ones I am eating today taste the same as what I have always remembered PEZ tasting like.

Maybe a little dryer and staler. Like Zeke pointed out, these have been around for a while.

Is that it?

This is WAY too much introspection for one afternoon. WTF?

I haven't had any since 2014? I threw them out. I don't recall seeing a mfg date on the candy....

I think it's this. Little Debbie cakes that I thought used to be awesome are no longer the awesome.

*This excludes Swiss Rolls. Those are still awesome

Brachs candy used to make these mints that you never see at the grocery store. They were shaped like a peppermint disc and tasted like one but almost like they were mentholated. They were this light blue color and translucent almost. I used to eat one of those and then eat a green apple...

There are foods I used to eat when I was a kid that I can't stomach anymore, but that is not the same thing.

fish sticks
hot dogs (well not in the qty I used to eat them in)
jello
peanut butter AND jelly (emphasis on and jelly as I still eat peanut butter on the regular)
