Yea, I guess. And, when used in moderation, I will even admit that I like the look.

It is the ones that look almost... I dunno... Crunchy? They look BAD.

I think this is a really good example of what I mean by "crunchy."

This one is an even better example. And by better I mean worse.

I do not know if "cooking" is the right term but it reminds me of a technique I was taught in college. In a B&W film class... It was called "dodging." You would take a piece of opaque cardboard or whatever and shade a portion of your photo while you were exposing it so that shaded area would get less-exposed.

"Cooking" a photo, to me, is the act of doing the opposite? Or, maybe, dodging a part of a photo so it is exposed correctly and the rest is over-exposed?

Anywho... Something like that.

I agree. HDR is cheating in a sense that you combine exposures to get a good image, rather than choosing the "best" one. I find you can also "cheat" and compensate for poor lighting/not ideal lighting with HDR.

I like HDR that doesn't use vastly different exposures and looks like no HDR. It helps add contrast to the photo but not drastically so.

I find most landscape pictures look better in black and white on the cell phone.
