Best Hawaiian island for driving?
Hello!
I am considering Hawaii as a location for a holiday in Sept/Oct. I want to do 3 of my favourite things on this holiday: driving, horse riding, and diving/snorkeling.
I own an S2000 here in Australia and would love to drive one in Hawaii, but haven't found anything to rent online. Alas, if it's not possible, I will settle for something else, but I would really like some local advice for some decent drives in Hawaii.
Obviously, I love a windy road and a good, quiet straight here and there, but I also LOVE a good view.
Would appreciate suggestions for the above, and also some good hire car tips/recommendations if possible!
Thanks,
Kate.

My personal favorite is still Maui. The road up Haleakala is my favorite drive in Hawaii. And road to Hana and all the other scenic roads around the island aren't too bad as well Just know driving around the island isn't recommended because the roads get one-way narrow with a cliff on one side.
Big Island is wide and open, nothing too twisty that I am aware of. Like all the islands, there's scenic drives to be had though.
Kauai is the relatively small compared to the others but has Waimea Canyon Road, another favorite.
Most of us live here on Oahu, not much twisty roads here as well. And the one famous place is a residential area so I don't like to recommend that to people for driving hard. I personally think Oahu is the worst for driving by far, especially when you hit traffic. Oahu is the reason we rank up there in US traffic.
As for car rental, you can maybe find a Miata. I'm not aware of anyplace that rents out S2000's. If there was, I think I would've done it already haha. Good luck, and let us know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your detailed answer and another recommendation for Maui. This is a good start to my search! http://www.mauiroadsters.com/our-fleet/cars/ Cheers

I'm most likely the only guy here that lives on Kaua'i and I can say Koke'e (Waimea Canyon Drive) is the best road here to have fun on, especially at night since there is almost no other cars around. Just remember to stay in your lane in-case one pops up randomly.
