Default Misfire CEL's

Ever since i got the car it had a CEL. ran the code and it turned out to be a random misfire and misfires for all 4 cylinders. it doesnt affect the drivability of the car its just something that bothers me.

i have already changed the spark plugs and coil packs and it has not solved the problem.

i was wondering if anyone has any experience with the misfire CEL codes. i did a little research here on the forums and apparently there are 10-12 different things it may be.

our 2002 turned out to have clogged injectors

a valve adjustment smoothed things out for a long while (enough that a misfire was still minutely recognizable, but won't throw a CEL), but when Sonic did the turbo install, we found the bad injectors.

Tony Honda flat out lied to me and tried to take our money. They said they pulled the valve cover and IMMEDIATELY recognized that the valves were stretched (not bent) and when i sent it to pflueger for a second look, they said they couldn't find anything (after a WEEK of looking) so they're gonna go with Tony's assessment. stretched valves

what ever you do, do not just go and buy injectors. there are a few things i would look at first. the first and most important thing i would check is your valve adjustment. tight valves can cause misifres. just on misifre in one cylinder can set misfire codes for all cylinders. if you have acess to a scan tool. you should check your map sensor voltage engine idling, no loads on. should be less than 1 volt. if 1 volt or higher, then your valves might be tight.. i have seen this on numorous other hondas and even an s2000 before. a too tight valve can become a burnt valve if left tight too long. i have also seen dead injectors. also. for the injectors while the vehicle is running. listen to the clicking sound of each injector. they should all be clicking equally loud. if one is quiet or not clicking at all then the injector is sticking or bad. before condeming your injectors. your need to check to make sure you are getting a good signal/pulse to the injectors fron the ecu. i use what is calle a noid light for this. it tests the injector pulse the check the electrical wiring side of the injector circuit.

by the way. does your car run rough or does if seem to run normal but with the exception of the misfire codes. a dead plug, injector or coil pack wil surely make the engine run like crap. sound like a subaru. tight valves just cause engine to idle o.k but wil feel misfire every so often, will feel it in the seat of your pants if sitting in the car. like a sputturing problem
