Default How to convince Wife to buy NOW

Hey guys, I am new to the S2KI community, and I have already become a paid member...as I KNOW I will be joining the ranks of s2k owners soon. The question is how soon?

My wife and I decided to part out and sell my ep3(03 civic si) to help pay off my credit cards and to make room for our new mortgage payment. After almost completely parting her out, I started to get attached again, and wanted to convert the ep to the equivalent of the jdm civic type r. I asked her what she thought about it, and she came back with a stunning response. "I was thinking, we should definitely sell the ep. But how bout we get something thats fun for BOTH of us?" And I said, "like what, an S2000?" AND SHE SAID YES!!! OMG, WHAT AN AWESOME WIFE! So we decided we would buy in January, after our "second wedding"(no one knows that we got married with elvis her in Vegas), and after we pay off a little bit of credit card debt. We went and test drove an 07 gpw with red/black interior at the dealership I used to sell Hondas at. It wasn't my first time in an s2k, as I sold plenty of them. But she loved it, but isn't sure about gpw. She did mention that gpw looks better with the red/black interior than just black(we test drove a used 06 gpw w/1300 miles). She likes rio yellow or laguna blue. Now I have the hardcore lust for the S, and the dilemma is selling her on the idea. Any suggestions or tactics that may have worked for any of you?

she did drive it, but only for about 10 minutes in an empty parking lot, due to the fact she isn't very experienced with a manual tranny. i think once she gets it on the open road above 6k she will love

Get rid of those credit card debts while you can. You can always put the car on a loan at (hopefully) a lower interest rate.

Wait, I thought she wanted to get a car "for both of you" and she said yes to the S2000. Why do you need to use tactics with this if she's already OK'd it?

Threaten her with a divorce, that will teach her. If it doesn't, you're sleeping on the couch for a few weeks...err..years.

Why not pick up a beater '2k for awhile and work on it? Maybe something in the 15-18K range. Lower payments, the same fun. It'll probably be easier to convince her if the car's $17K instead of $31K.

Pay off as much credit card debt first. Even drive a beater for a few months if you have to. Do not live above your means, when time comes to pay for all of it, it's not much fun.
