Alright thats it!
So, I bought my car (MY02) certified at the dealer. Part of my trade in deal was that I get to keep my viper alarm (Model 350HV) out of my previous car, but the dealer would not install it.
Whatever...so I have the alarm and all its pieces and I take it to a local alarm/stereo shop. As they are installing they tell me that the S2000 does not have power locks since there is no "Lock/Unlock" switch anywhere for them to tap into. I tell them BS because the car came with 2 honda remotes when I bought it and that I just didn't have them activate the factory alarm.
So, they tell me that they need to install a solenoid to lock/unlock my driver door when I hit the button on my remote. It was cheap and at the time I did not care so i told them to go ahead.
First problem with that set up is when I unlock my car, it only unlocks the driver side since there is only 1 solenoid on that side. It gets kinda annoying to have to unlock the passenger side manually since I have short arms.
When I first tried out my car after the install I called a BS on them since when you lock the driver side manually, it also locks the passenger side (like power locks do). At this point I again did not care because it took WAY too long for them to install the alarm in the first place.
About a month ago I turn off my car and go to get out and the door remained locked (instead of unlocking automatically like normal) and I could not get out. Even maunally unlocking did not work and I had to use the exterior door handle and lots of yanking on the door lock to get out. I took off the door panel and smacked the solenoid a few times and all was back to "normal".
Now last night it decided to stick again and now I am fed up. I KNOW that the car has power locks and I want to hook it up right. I am guesing coming off the alarm when you hit the "Lock/Unlock" button it must send a signal out to either
A) The factory system
B) Whatever other janky setup you have (like a solenoid)
My LONG WINDED question is, how do I tap into the factory system so my car will work normally like any other car (What I mean by that is, press "Lock/Unlock" and both doors unlock) and I can get rid of that solenoid!
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

On my stock system I'm pretty sure I have to press the remote button three times. The first press unlocks the driver door, the second press does nothing that I'm aware of and the third press opens the passenger door.
Try three presses if you haven't already.

they probably didnt want to do it maybe cuz they didnt want to mess with our door locks since they are 5 wire locks, but its not even that hard. I would jus take it back because our cars have power locks they just arent the traditional 2 wire door locks. i been installin vipers for 3 years.
I have a Viper System and have had it since 2001. It locks and unlocks both doors as well as setting and unsetting my alarm with just one touch. It also opens my trunck with a second button. I would take it back and have them redo the install, something just does not add up.

can someone relocate this thread to the electronic section? I am Adept enough at auto electronics so I can do it myself, with a little instruction. I am looking more for specific info on how to. Thanks!

or you can use resistors, just takes longer... but there is no need to run seperate solinodes, that shop doesnt know what they are doing...
You should of gone to Best Buy, they may cost more but there work is insured and they are mostly certified and dont pull people off the street to do installs..
