This is our final drive of the 2009 season and includes some of the best roads from our previous drives.

NOTE: The “normal” size limit for our drives is 20 cars. That is as many as we feel we can manage and it keeps us from overwhelming our restaurant choices.

When we posted this drive we were blown away by the response as it filled up in about half an hour!

So to accommodate more cars we set about revising how we would do this drive. We then opened it up to a total of 28 cars. Those slots also filled up quickly. We will hold firm on the 28 car limit for this drive.

Here is how we plan to handle this drive:

We will be breaking up into two groups – a Clockwise group and a Counter-Clockwise group. Everyone will be traveling the same route – just from different directions.

Those from the south (Bend, Salem, Eugene, etc.) and from the west-side (Beaverton, Hillsboro, etc.) will be the Counter-Clockwise group.

Those from Vancouver, Camas, Portland, Hood River, etc. will be the Clockwise group.

This will put everyone nearest the closest start point so they don’t have to get up so early.

The start times and locations will be different for each group. Likewise the return to Portland will be at different times.

Each of these two groups will be further divided into two groups each. So there will be two Clockwise and two Counter-Clockwise groups – each lead by a drive leader.

The two Clockwise groups will head up the Historic Highway and the Gorge, making a side loop before heading on into The Dalles for lunch. Following lunch they will circle around Mt. Hood on their way back to Portland.

The two Counter-Clockwise groups will head up and around Mt. Hood before stopping for lunch at The Dalles. After lunch they will head down the Gorge and make a side loop before hitting the Historic Highway.

There will be an overlap of the two groups in The Dalles so we can all socialize and visit there.

The “head count” is important to the restaurant. So if you are taking your significant-other, rider or guest, be sure to let us know!

Saturday, October 3 –

This Fall Potpouri drive is a fun, all-around drive. It includes hours of driving on challenging, windy two-lane roads in various spots in Oregon and Washington.

We will begin our day by doing some fun cross-country driving from the Clackamas area up to Government Camp on Mt. Hood.

From there we will drive over Mt. Hood and down to The Dalles where we will have lunch.





Following lunch we will hop over to the Washington side of the Columbia.





Here we will enjoy some twisty roads as we climb out of the Gorge and up to the plains where we will have spectacular views of Mt. Adams.

We will take another route back down to the Gorge and then travel down Hwy. 14:

to the Bridge of the Gods. Here we will cross back to the Oregon side and take the historic highway:

up to Crown Point where we will end our day.
