Thumbs down Spring Fling at Wintergreen Resort!

OK, Y'all...the venue for Spring Fling 07 is set!! We will be staying at the beautiful Wintergreen Resort in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is located 40 minutes south of Charlottesville, VA, between the towns of Nellysford and Stony Creek. It is right in the area where we will be having our drive. There are many activities there, including golf, tennis and a spa. There is also a banquet area for our dinner on Sat night. Cell phones work and there is Internet service. I think you are going to like this one, at least I hope so!!!

I need, by COB NEXT WEDNESDAY (July 5), your vote on the dates/room rate. The most requested dates of May 4-6, we cannot get the cheaper condos (studio) at $139 per night. We can, however, get the one-bedroom units at $161 per night. For the dates of April 27-29, we can get the $139 studios. The studio units are a kitchenette/living area down below with the bedroom area in a loft above. The one-bedroom units have an actual bedroom. So the question is whether you want to spring for a bit more money ($22 per night) and get the May dates. Please vote ASAP and I'll firm up with Wintergreen next Wednesday PM.

The website for Wintergreen is www.wintergreenresort.com. You can check it out and see pics of the accommodations, etc. Here's a pic from a B&B I stayed in, overlooking the mountain where Wintergreen is located.

Yes for Jerry and +1 Kathy

I think that some folks may think the cost is high.....but sounds like the facilities are great. Is there a 'budget' alternative that is nearby?

Which weekend, Jerry?

I'm voting for the 4/27 weekend, as we hope to vacation in VA after SF. We may just need the week to recuperate if this past spring fling is any indication.

4/27 would also probably be the best for me.....fits into the business cycle of my job....due to invoices being reviewed early in each month. Gotta keep the firm's cash flow moving....

Since April 27-29 would be very difficult for me, I'll still vote for the May dates, price notwithstanding.

I take it the earlier April dates were unavailable?

I'm good for either date. For those of you who've never been there, this is an incredibly beautiful area of Virginia and is quite remote, but with fabulous drives and beautiful areas. It is probably equidistant from my hometown (where I was born and have lived all my life) Lynchburg, Virginia and Charlottesville. Springtime in that area should be beautiful and it is quite close to I-81 and I-64. I'm looking forward to it.

We would still stick with the May dates - we have to be able to get there from up here in the cold north - not as far north as it is for Matrix!

April works..... May works........ hope the accommodations don't entice us to enjoy them too much and we miss out on the other attractions....

The May dates work best for us, work-wise, especially if we add an extra day at the end. As for cost, I don't even consider that when the option is getting together with Vintage - I can't put a price on what these gatherings are worth.
