Default EK Fogs on Silverstone.... with a little picture

I ordered my EK fogs off ebay. The plastic frames were supposed to come in the almost silverstone color...instead they came in black. I installed them this past week and here is the picture follow along/ How To.

The Fogs.

I would suggest cutting the backs out of the vents first to allow you to cut your design more easily.

Draw initial design by using the supplied foglight frame as a guide. You can always make it bigger, but you will have a tough time securing the foglight to the bumper if you cut too much away.

I used a rotory tool and a heated blade to remove the uneeded plastic. I also work in a dental lab....so this might not be as convenient for others.

I ended up cutting away about 3 different times, but this is what the hole ended up looking like.

You actually have to cut a little outside the bumper vent to get the fog frame to lay flat. You can see this in the lower left hand part of the cut. You will need to do lots of test fitting to get your ideal fitting. It is a bit of a bitch because you will always have a gap somewhere.

You then secure the lights to the frame.

I placed 2 black screws on the outside of the fog frame to push to the somewhat convex frames inward and line up with the line of the bumper. They are completely unnoticeable and very effective.

As I said before, you WILL have gaps on the bottom of the fogs without exception if you aline them with the top line of the vent as you can see in these pics.

After securing the fogs to the bumper, wire it and zip tie the wires in the desired position. I would suggest running the wires on the most bottom part of the bumper. Otherwise you will have issues when trying to put the bumper back on. Also, the EK fogs are incompatible with the AEM V2 CAI....Ask me how I know? The filter for the intake sits exactly in the spot where your right foglight needs to sit when trying to install the bumper again. I was forced to switch back to my stock airbox for now....not that I felt any difference with the intake anyway

Anyhow, here are some pics with it all installed. It looks a bit goofy to me with the black fog frames. I'm not sure if I want to paint them or not. My cf hood is getting re-clearcoated right now, so maybe that black will help even out the fogs. Comments are welcome. Should I paint the fog frames silverstone or leave them?

Thanks for looking.

I have AEM v1 and had same problem with yours.

towards middle.
It still touching some on side but found the solution ^^

We could switch bezels........................ NOT. Mine are OEM and are WAY stronger than the e-bay ones. I bought a set of both just to compare quality.

That's cool that you were able to make it work with the filter. The lip on the filter is just so damn short that I didn't want to try repositioning any more and cut the splashguard plastics anymore. I also kind of want to try the whole spoon snorkel deal.

There is a bolt that goes through a spring on the fog light metal frame that allows you to point the light more up or down. I haven't had time to wire foglights yet, so I can't really say how easy they are to adjust. The position on mine to seemed to be very good...although, I was most concerned on having the light be as close to the plastic bezel as possible. Regardless, I don't think their adjustment is that difficult.
