Talking SUB ENCLOSURES & ROLL HOOP SPEAKERS

Tool Well Sub Woofer Enclosure

If you have upgraded your ICE you may well have thought about where to put a sub woofer. There are basically three choices.

Mikey, that's a tidy sub enclosure you got there. Out of interest, how much would the sub enclosure have to be extended upwards to match a 12" sub?

Hi Craig

Depends a lot on the mounting depth of the sub you go for! I would guess you are looking at JL Audio 12W0-4 ?

That one would not need to be raised (6" deep sub to a 7.5" enclosure) though the volume of the sealed enclosure would be a bit tight as the above sub needs 1.5 cu ft, I can adjust the layout to get ~1.2 cu ft which should do it!

Using JL figures;

8" needs 0.375 cu ft
10" needs 0.75 cu ft
12" needs 1.50 cu ft

Well, I've got my W Laurent enclosure, but I have to admit that if I were buying again, I think a 12" sub in your enclosure would be my first choice. I guess to be perfect for the 12" the top could be raised and then tapered off using sloping edges running down to the boot floor?
