Default Edge ShMitt

Manufacturer's Product Description:
The ShMITT is a multi-purpose foam mitt that uses soap-retaining foam to wash the car, rather than natural sheepskin or sea sponges. While these are excellent tools, they have a shorter life span than engineered foam. The ShMITT utilizes material that has already been proven safe and effective on vehicle surfaces because it

very interesting review...
i have always thought that the advantage that sheepskins have is the ability to absorb dirt inside and then unload in the bucket.
hard for me to visualize how the shmitt does that, but guess it does.

in any case, cause of your glowing review thats just another product on my list of must trys!!

great review, as always mikeyc!

Hey mike,

I did the same for drying (leaving it on a grit guard), and on first inspection the next day it seemed mostly dry, but when I put my hand in the shmitt... the white foam side was definately still moist which is not so cool for foam, but I just threw it in the dryer for a min and it was good to go. =p

But I agree, overall definately better than a sheepskin.

It's a little hard to visualize how it works. Basically, the hills & valleys of the tufted face of the ShMitt act in a similar manner to the hairs & spaces of a sheepskin mitt. The hills knock the dirt off the surface and then it flows into the valleys of the ShMitt where it doesn't touch the paint.

A good review but I'm a little skeptical (big surprise huh?). To play devils advocate I feel like this just traps and pushes the dirt around on the paint in the same way polish is trapped and pushed around the paint with this material in the cutting pads.

Absolutely!! I try to be selective when trying new products.

Definitely better! I really like the tapered edges of the ShMitt too. They make it really easy to get it into tight corners.

I think ubetit needs to feel the edge white foam =)... then he'll understand.

Description of the white foam on edgepads.com:

"Ultrafine Finish. Ultra-smooth surface, finer than any
. pad on the market. Creates a bold, crystalline gloss.
. For new, exotic or expertly restored cars only."

I have the polishing-pal which comes with all the LC foam pads in smaller sizes and neither the blue or grey comes even close to the edge white in softness... plus add in the wave pattern and it makes sense.

[QUOTE=MikeyC,Oct 23 2006, 11:13 PM] Additionally, you don't need to trap dirt within the mitt to effectively clean a car.
