Thumbs up Computer Help AGAIN

hahaha, well, I've always gotten great pc tech help from you wonderful SoCal S2Ki'ers. Let me know if any of you can help me out,...again.

Sooo, I haven't done any updates on my home comp. since Sept. '08, it's a pretty new dell that has Vista. After downlaoding like 55 updates, my internet doesnt work! It is connected, and I can login to msn messenger, etc. but using IE, there's no internet. WTF!!!

sounds like you are missing the IP address, call your provider and they can walk you thru it.
I have Vista as well and had the same problem...

Just to confirm, you can logon to Messenger and chat successfully?

If yes, your Internet connection is working. Try downloading Firefox and see if that works. If yes, then download AdBlockPlus.

3 programs for firefox YOU MUST HAVE

Adblock
Flashblock
Ctrl-Tab < This nifty program lets you switch tabs in the browser just like regular windows can be Alt+tabbed through. Very pretty

Umm...have you installed anything that modifies your DNS entries? I doubt your browser is the issue.

Have you tried to go to a different page? Also, try to go to the TCP/IP properties on your NIC to see if somehow DNS is coded in there.

The problem with this is that your PC connects to the internet, but somehow it's not translating names to IP.
