Default CTAE CARBON INTAKE Manifold - Small Review

Hi Guys...Finally i can Write a small Review of the Carbon Intake Manifold I have on my car that's Made By a guy Named Tom from a Company that's named CTAE that now doesn't Exist...Anyway i tried many Ways of getting in touch with the guy and a month back i got a mail from him and i replied and he doesn't seem to get my Replies....
Anyway to get back to the point...He Said that the test they did were on a NA s2000 and with a Toda Header and AEM EMS tuning the S2000 made 40hp at 6k and 3-4hp at 8k.
SO to tell you mine Experience from the Intake....
You can see my mods on the SIG but I can tell you..My car Ran like Crap After Installing the 4-1 header and that's thanks to my car Getting Lean as hell on Vtec something like 15AF from 6-8k and getting richer above that and the car only pulled hard from 8-9k.What a shame...Since i am on stock Boost i didn't do any VAFC/Emanage correction to my fuel since i have an AEM EMS at home waiting on the install on the bigger pulleys...SO to continue...I put the CAT back on my car to see if it makes any difference with the Lean State i had....After this my Butt Dyno Can tell you that the car Get faster...But not too much but definitely an improvement. So Next to install the CF Manifold...
I had my share of Small and big Problem Installs but i wont bore you with that....It had great Fitting but many small Bugs...
To support my Intake i put a BDL TB 68-66 on the IM that was perfect fitting for the hole of the IM.
Before i Installed it i took many Comparisons between the Stock IM and the CF one. From what i got the IM has 1" or 2.5cm longer runners and 1" or 2.5cm deeper Plenum which makes it maybe double the stock Plenum. Here are some Comparison Pictures.

This Install made me realize how Bad Was the Hondata Gasket compared to OEM in Cutout..the Hondata was bigger on some sides than oem and smaller near the injectors and as it seems Killed Flow since it was looking inside between the runners and the Head...The CF manifold runner Opening was perfect match for Stock Gasket so since the IM flange was CF i didn't use the hondata since i have no use for it..
Anyway i want to say i didn't look at the hondata when installing it since i thought it was same as OEM but i Suggest all of you do a test FIT before installing it and Trim it to your Application on the Runner cutout.
To get back to the Install. The IM went in and the car doesn't Idle at high RPM when Cold since i have maybe 2 meters of hose from the IACV to the IM.But it Idles Great and Catches Later when the Car gets Wormer and the IACV seems to work and the Car idles Great.....
Now on the Good part....
I can say that there is a Definite Change in the total behavior of the car. There were changes in places i couldn't or didn't Expect...Since the CF is probably Thinner than the OEM IM the Sound of the CAR when you rev the car at standstill seems little like its making Some sounds of IT bodies ...Wow ...The Car Growls now So like a Full NA motor...You can Definitely hear the VACUM Growl from the outside....also i had a friend drive the car and the Growl is something like i never heard from outside before from the car.Its different from Filter Intake growl...Or CAI Growl. And its louder then the Supercharger Whine.
Also there was a Definite Change in the total sound from the Exhaust...Something that i didn't Expect..now its Different from before...maybe more NA like...the car now sounds like a V6 or a inline 6 ...but when cursing it sounds like a cylinder is missing from the firing order from 3-4k..and that's when the car sounds not like a 4 banger.the car exhaust sounds totally different in the cursing...But once you step on the gas all goes to all motor High Revving S2000.WOW,
From But Dyno i can Tell you that the Car now Pulls Harder from 4k Upwards and that's Noticeable quite a bit...It has a Grunt Now...and as it gets 5k it pulls more and more....and i am not as lean at in Vtec as it was but still lean max is now 14.2af and get richer from 8k. The car pulls harder Now and its a Definite Improvement i can say ....The One Odd thing i couldn't Understand now was that i Tested the car for Vtec Changeover and i couldn't tell when it changed to VTEC if i didn't Know that it was 6k. There is no change in Intake Sound and no Kick in the car, like before and no Exhaust Change....Nothing....I tested it in 3rd from 2k up 15 times and nothing....Just linear Increase in power. So linear you cant imagine... the Car starts pulling hard fro 3.5k up and pulls harder from around 4-5 just like in Vtec and no change in 6k what's so ever just a linear increase in speed and power right to 8k when the car slams the RPM form 8-9k like a snap...maybe because it has more fuel than 6-8k or maybe its the peak boost.
So I can say that if you didn't know 6k VTEC you wont know that there was A VTEC on this CAR since you cant tell it where it was.
In the end From What wrote me in the original Mail he told me that they put the Vtec on at 4800 and it didn't have any Negative effect on the Power curve and nothing but gains...
In my Wildest dreams i thought that maybe the Longer IM runners could work with the Longer 4-1 header runners and they seem to do...Linear power and you would thing that my S2000 is a High Power NA machine...
And to add what tom also told me that i Have one of the only TWO CTAE IM made....What are the ODDs of that ? And i live in country Called Macedonia on the Balkans with only 1 S2000 till last year when only 2 more were bought and the people that bought them was an old lady and a guy who has 30 cars and doesn't care about the S.
I forgot the CF manifold Is 3 times lighter...something like 2kg compared to 6kg.
And I am sorry for No Real Dyno sheets but i have to buy Injectors for the 3.5" pulley first than comes the Dyno...
So cheers.

You might want to edit your post so it is more coherent and easier to read.

I bought the IM on EBay.co.uk since the Owner couldn't sell it on this forum and became a Large Joke Tread and Photoshop Skill making funn...
A very Funny Tread...
Anyway it cost me around 500-600$ installed and It originally cost 1500$ from CTAE.
I got it as new since it was never installed, the guy i got it from never installed it since he sold the S and bought an EVO and he bought it from the States on Ebay from a Guy who never installed it also...It couldn't be installed before since the problems i run into couldn't happened if it was installed before...
Anyway From the Words of TOM the maker,he said his business went under since he tried using the forum to market it and since Everybody is an Expert in front of the Screen his business along with other Factors went under...
And everybody said bad things about the IM and all it ever was ...was just that -Talk- since nobody ever installed one and the Guy Who Originally was the Ginny pig for testing was Banned on S2ki- vaporus he did his Review on Honda tech...
It had Great Design Goals(lower and broaden the Torque range and HP) and i didn't Worry about HIGH RPM small gains since i was in Boost.I think it achieved that.

I am Glad i got it and i think i am the only guy who can say how it does since they are not available, and second i don't know anybody that has one installed...Its a great Addition to the Way the S makes power....

Sorry about the Tread being so long i hope it could serve the best describing my Impressions on the IM. (My first Review)

1. I had to describe how the car was performing before the IM and what contributed to that.
2. My best how i can describe in words best how and what changes only the CTAE IM made with nothing else changed...

I would Gladly Change or rearrange any part of the post to better suit the Review for other members just mail me or Quote the part to be changed to from this to this and i will change it... cheers

Sorry guys ,this IM isn't available for purchase and they are basically one off items i just wanted to share want experience i had with it and to put some light on some old discussions on the CTAE manifold.

Its Definitely a Keeper and if i ever sell my S(i doubt that) the IM would be on sale here for all you guys who would ever want it.

Cheers/

here are some more pictures for comparison...
would make a Video of it Revving if members are interested and final installed Picture

It might just be me but the stock IM looks much more smooth on the inside then the ATA walker does.
