Default Help, oil leaking from Headgasket area

Hi guys, here the situation, i just bought this car and this car was over-revved from the previous owner and got a lower block?(how he said it) bottome end replaced by Honda.
But what I found out today was that the oil is leaking out from a certain spot circled in red from the picture. it's not bad at all, just seepage. But I wanted to know how this might be happening and how it could be fixed. So I carefully observed and thought that the two bolts(circled in Yellow) is there to tighten these part, so the oil don't leak out? I was scared to over tighten it, so i didn't even try to tighten it. Is this the possible cure for this problem?

also, my situation is that I bought this car from Delaware, and I am from MD. Even though this car is covered on warranty for the work they did(bottom end replacement), it's too far for me to drive there.

So I was thinking if I could take it to any honda dealership around me and they can take care of this for me free of charge or do i HAVE TO go to the dealership that did the actual work to the car?

BTW the car has 99032 miles, and Honda care warranty exists for less than 1000miles until 100k hits, but here's another thing, He just paid off this car with the money I gave him for the car, and we are waiting for the title to come to him, so he can give it to me. So the honda warranty can't be transferred yet, plus it's too much hassle to do so I believe.

If this is something I can't fix by tightening those two bolts circled in yellow, like i stated before, my most important question would be, Do I HAVE TO take it to the dealer in Delaware that did the actual work to the car, or local dealer could do this for me also with a proof of work done? (receipt, and calling the dealer in Delaware to verify that the car has been worked on from them, and still under warranty) I am sooooo upset and sad right now, it's unbelievable

well, Please let me know guys if you guys know anything about these.
thanks
John.

Are you sure that it's oil? The only reason I ask is at a recent local meet I noticed a black area right there and thought it could possible be dried oil. However, every car there had the same grime in the exact same area. We figured it to be something off the belts.

Do a search for the term "porous block" and see if the description of that syndrome matches what is happening to the car. If that is indeed the problem, the only solution is to replace the block again. Otherwise, carefully inspect the area where the valve cover meets the head and make sure that the oil didn't originate from there.

You can take the car to any Honda dealer for warrantee work, especially since you have the Honda Care warrantee. Make sure that you do so ASAP so that the problem can be documented. Also, you didn't mention when the block was replaced. Repairs under warrantee are covered for 12 months or 12k miles in most situations if I remember correctly.

Since you don't have the title yet, you're not driving the car around, are you?

A slight seep in that area is pretty normal.. I clean mine off every year or so. The timing chain galley if behind there, not the head seal so it is not a critical as you might think.

thanks, i will go ahead and search for that term.
The work was done on 3/02/05 and about 4k miles ago, so i think i am still safe.
and yes, that is the problem too. this can only be solved when I get the title, because i can't drive it. which means, no i don't drive around with it.

folex187,
I thought it was dried up oil or some sort of belt dust got on there also, but what I did was I cleaned all that up, and i left my engine on running and revved about 20times and left it on for another 5mins and turned it off, then i saw very little bit of new oil has came out, and when i wiped it with my finger, it was oil.

cdelena,
oh, so yours does this also? hmmm i hope this is not as a big problem as you say.

Oh, most of people would think that it will be able to be taken back to any Honda Dealers, because it was replaced under honda care. IT WASN'T! the last owner paid with his expense.

So does this make the story a lil different? which I have to take it to that exact dealership that did the work to the car?

let me know guys
thanks
John.

That area gets Honda Bond silicone to seal it. If the surface wasn't clean at assembly it will leak. I would take it in and have them fix it. The block doesn't need to be replaced. You can fix it by removing the timing cover and resealing it.
