Smile Key tumbler will not turn

Took the S too the local dealership for a alignment and they broke the car.

Then key tumbler is stuck and will not turn. (wheel lock is not engaged) key can be removed and inserted with out any problems.
Then tumbler will just not rotate!!

Should it be replace even if they can fix/repair the problem?

I would hate to have this happen in the middle of nowhere when filling up with gas at a later time.

I have never had a problem with the key not turning before

That sucks, it's good you don't keep alot of keys on the keychain. I have heard the weight causes them to fail as well. Have you tried slightly turning the steering wheel at the same time you rotate the lock cylinder. A couple times I have had steering wheel locks lock up so tightly that the key would easily break before the cylinder would turn unless I slightly turn the wheel to unload the pressure on the mechanism. Good luck.

The wheel lock doesn't have to be engaged to lock up the cylinder. It's happened to me with my '97 Civic. I just wiggled the steering wheel back and forth until it allowed the tumbler to turn.

I'm not saying that this is definitely your issue, but it happened to me recently on my Civic. I didn't think much of it since moving the steering wheel - as much as 45 degrees each way - took care of the problem.

My Civic has 177,000 miles on it, so it doesn't surprise me when things like this happen.
