Who has gone from S to DC5 or the other way round?
Ok so on my continuing mission to be the most fickle and indecisive person alive, im trying to weight up / discount a DC5 from my decision, but struggling.
Looks like a great bit of kit.
As I see it:
A DC5 costs a bit less
Has the same power at the wheels as an S pretty much
IVtec gives more torque?
Lighter (1170 kg)
Better brakes - Brembo
Doesnt seem to suffer all these expensive S2000 faults (roof / bushes / calipers etc)
K20A seems quite easy to NA mod, or a mapped JR Supercharger is a shade under 3k fitted.
Very modern inside with racing seats.
And most importantly can be bought in white!
An S2000 would seem like a more rewarding drive being RWD but I would bet on a track there would be nowt in it.
It also has a magical extra 500 rpm!
Just interested to see how others view the DC5?
Im not ruling out keeping the Evo but I think the timing is right.

Mate had a 240hp DC5, was identical to my S up to silly speeds but I had the roof down.
Nice car but the interior is no where near as nice as the S2000, plus traction was a problem until he got the uprated engine mounts. Ride was also crashy until he changed the springs (cant remember what to though)
If you dont see the extra seats or storage a factor then I would go the S every time. Dc5 insurance was also more when i got a quote when thiking of buying my mates off him

I think DC-5 or S at the end of the day comes down to do you prefer FWD or RWD. I've played with DC-5's on track (me in the S) and I've not met one as quick as me.
Back in the real world. Who knows.

Mark, a few of my friends have got DC5's in various states of tune.
TBH on track and road there is very little in it. True RWD may be more rewarding but on some of the more bumpy/wet roads im working far far harder in the S than they are.
Seats are very comfortable plus you have the rarity factor of them. Masses and masses of tuning stuff out there, with good proven gains for sensible money. If i didnt have the S id definately have a DC5

The brakes may be brembo but I IMO they're not as good as the S. They're not bad but compared to the S they don't seem to have as much overall bite to them.
I had a choice of either an S or a DC5 I ended up going for the Teg, mainly because I didn't want a RWD car but also because the DC5 looks great and is rare.

That black one look tough as nails Lucky
Has to be white for me though.
MM - will have a look shortly. Odd one on the brakes, the caliper must be very good so maybe just the discs / pads / hoses. Saying that, I had brake failure at 80 mph in the Evo alst night - was not happy!

I did indeed, the reason I went for one was because I'd been thinking about a change anyway, they are quite cheap, I like VTEC, I wanted something I bit rare/ different, and as winter was coming it didn't make sense to get another convertible (and after killing my S in relatively mundane circumstances, the thought of commuting 70 miles on the motorway every day in another one didn't really appeal).
I love it, you can really throw it around and it just stays on the line, it's got very firm suspension and is very light - so is great on smooth roads, not so great on bad ones. The S is much more compliant but I'd say the DC5 was more composed on the right roads. In a straight line it feels marginally slower at the top end, but at the lower end you find you have to change gear less thanks to the engine being a bit more flexible. Spend
