Default I might be saying bye bye to the S

Well, over the past three years, I cant add up the money I have spent on modifying and repairing/maintaining my S2. I love this car, and swore I would never get rid of it.

Lately I have been having problems with the tranny as most of you know, and now it is doing it again, and I just can not justify spending another 2-3000 to repair it. I was at the Acura dealership today, working a deal on a 2005 3.2TL 6-Speed with Navigation, and I would be trading both my S2000 and my 2003 TL. We are still working on numbers (read: we're about $4000 apart) so we will see what happens, but I have a feeling that he will be calling me today or thursday with a number closer to, if not right where I want to be.

If I do sell it, the following will be for sale: (locals get first dibs on the big stuff)

J's Racing style CF Hood with minor damage (most of you know what that is)
PRM Intake
Amuse Replica CF Lip. (dibs to Keith, AKA Aquatic)

Possibly some stereo stuff (Eclipse HU, Diamond Components, 2 Alpine V12 Amps, Orion 10" sub, and Q-Logic Box) (dibs on the amps for Urmil)

I am extremely dissappointed with this decision if I decide to go through with it, but being a college student, working part time, and on commission, I need the security of a car that I know will not break down on me, plus now I only have to maintain, gas, and insure ONE car vs. TWO.

I will still be an active member in this community, and I hope that I can get another S some day, but who knows when that will be.

I have met some incredible people here (especially the UMW Forum) and hopefully they will all be lifelong friends.

Special thanks for everything go out to Matt (Wisconsin S2K), Urmil (Luder 94), Lee (S2000GT), Charlie (Jahnke) and countless others!

Thanks again,
John

Sometime you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck with whichever way you go.

If you can wait, I would reccomend you take more time to part out your car. I know you are missing some of the stock parts, but you could do $$$ + stock part. That will help you bridge the $4000 gap too.

You could get some good money for those headlights for example, the '04 wheels, etc.

Well, I went over my math again, and we are actually about $3000 apart, not $4000.

So, that means we are getting closer. In all honesty, I would take the deal if they meet me half way.

Pete: I know what you are saying, but at the same time, it's so much hassle, and I want to get the deal done ASAP, I dont want to mess around trading parts, and making trips. The wheels, i'm not worried about, and the only other things left are the exhaust and RS*R springs. The springs especially I dont want to deal with, even if its a full swap of springs and shocks, its still more than I want to do. I really dont care anymore. I just want to get it over with.

I sat down tonight and made a list of pro's and cons....

PROS:
New Car
Full Warranty
1 Insurance Payment
1 Car to maintain
1 Car to fill w/gas
Still stick shift
Year Round capability
Over all practicallity
Still fun to drive
Still handles well
Navigation/Bluetooth
Still very moddable
------Lots of choices (intakes, wheels, suspension, lip kits etc...)
Nav -> DVD conversion (only about $300)

CONS:
No more S2
No convertible
More money (about $40-90/month depending on final price)
No parking in the driveway (where the TL is now)

Thats about it, the choice is obvious, and economical in my specific situation. The S2 is paid off, and the TL I still owe on, but as it sits right now, I have about $9000 in equity after paying off the TL, so its not a bad deal, just not as good as it could be. I would like to be in a position of about $10,500 - 12,000 in equity. That's where I would be most comfortable. I can afford it as the deal sits now, but barely!

Oh yeah, on top of everything else (car, school, work sucking ass) I just found out today my uncle in Michigan is not doing to well. He went to the ER this afternoon, and now is in ICU. They dont think he will make it through the night, and if he does, probably not through tomorrow. he has been sick for quite a while, so its almost better for him to not have to suffer anymore.

if he does pass away, I will be gone from thursday through saturday, so that cuts my time down even more since I have to get the S2 as close to stock as possible, and finish the deal before the next payment on my current TL is due on the 31st of this month.

If I can be of any assistance with getting your car ready for trade-in while you are busy with family stuff ... let me know.

I am somewhat local.
