Wine Tour June 23rd
Update: 6/22/2007 13 Cars Confirmed!!
Tomorrow is the day, looks like we will have a good turn out. If you are not confirmed and still want to join us just show up at the meeting place at 10:00 AM. we can always make room for more. I checked the weather and, as usual in the summer, we could see some afternoon rain showers. The forecast calls for a 10% chance up to 5PM then increasing to a 30% chance until about 8:00PM.
We will have preferred parking at Keel & Curley so look for the "S" parking when you arrive. They do have another large group at the Winery however they arrive after us and we will not be there very long.
What to expect:
The Winery's have tasting rooms and most offer 1 to 3 samples for free and charge a nominal fee for additional samples. Everyone is of course on their own to try as little or as much (except designated drivers of course) as they like. You can also purchase bottles of your favorites so save a little room in the trunk for your haul. A blanket to wrap the bottles in may also help get them home safely.
The drives will be all back roads that are fun to drive and offer some area for spirited runs as well.
What to bring:
+ Sun block
+ Hat(s)
+ Bottled Water
+ Cool light colored clothing (it will be hot during the drives)
+ Aspirin (wine gives me a headache if I am in the sun)
+ 2 way radio (if you have them)
+ Camera (spare batteries, extra storage cards or film(what's film??)
+ Video camera
+ Money for Wine, Lunch and other purchases. (The Winery's all take MC & Visa)
+ A Fun attitude!
Car Prep:
+ A full tank of gas before arriving at the event.
+ Check your oil before leaving, top off if necessary.
+ Check tire pressures, adjust as necessary.
If anyone has any questions please PM me or post in this thread. Looking forward to a great time!
See everyone tomorrow.
================================================== ===
The route is being finalized and by popular request 1 additional stop has been added, the Dunedin Brewery. Someone (who shall remain nameless) suggested we change the name of the event to the "Corkscrew & Brew Drive" with this latest addition.
The drive will begin at the Keel & Curley Winery at 10:00AM on Saturday June 23rd. Keel & Curley is located at 5210 Thonotosassa Road, Plant City, Fl 33565. Directions: I-4 to exit #17 (Branch Forbes Road), go north 1.3 miles to Thonotosassa Road, turn left Winery is immediately on your right. For additional information check out www.keelandcurleywinery.com
We will have maps, driving directions and schedules available for everyone before we begin. Depending on the final car count we may break into several groups for the drive portion but always regrouping at each stop. The drive routes will be back roads that offer a chance to see parts of Florida many may not know exist. The routes will offer some challenging and fun driving for the S.
Each of these Winery's have tasting rooms and wines are available for purchase. Obviously we want everyone to have fun and most importantly to be safe. With this in mind designated drivers are a must. We will have waiver forms outlining the rules of the road for everyone to sign.
For those who have indicated they are in please confirm and for those who are listed as possible it is time to decide, please post or PM me if you are in or out. We need to get a realistic Head count by Tuesday (6/19) so we can notify each stop and plan for parking etc.
Watch this first post for more updates!

The date is set (June 23rd) and planning is under way. Below is the tentative schedule of Wineries we will visit. This promises to be a great event for singles and especially for couples. The route between each winery will be scenic and fun to drive with stops at wineries to catch up and relax. Non drivers can enjoy the tasting rooms where they can sample their favorite wines. Everyone can enjoy at least one facility tour and of course the social interaction with fellow S2000 owners.
Please indicate you interest in attending and I will keep the roll call updated in this thread.
