Default Summer Tech Day Powdercoating Dossier

DEADLINE IS AUGUST 1ST, SO SIGN UP NOW!

If you would like powdercoating done:

1) The part must fit into a standard oven (32" wide....diagonal can be a bit larger)

2)No valve covers...I will do valve covers for the metro crew, but due to the outgassing process, the covers need to be baked for 1.5 hours before they can be coated, thus, we dont have the time to do this. (This goes for everyone but you SPEC, if we have time, we can do your cover....but we do need the tape though)

3)I will do this for free (with the gracious help of Spec Ops and his oven/tank)...but you are responsible for bringing what I tell you.....

4)Please go to this website, and pick a color that you like. (If you need help, PM me on color choice help, or any other type of help)

Color Choices 1
Color Choices 2

They are located in upstate NY, so if you order the powder ground shipping, youll have it in about 2 days. Before you order, I advise you to talk to me first, to make sure the color selection you have will work. (ie, if you order a candy color only, it wont look good. Candy needs to be on top of something)

Color Choices 3
This is another site for powder. They have slighly different colors. You can still order powder from them. They have very high quality powder as well. Columbia also has a number of special effects powders, so check them out. On the left menu, roll over the powders and click on the menus that appear. They are in Tennesee however, so please allow a few more days for delivery. DO NOT buy cups from them. They will NOT fit my gun. Cups must come from the Choice 1 & 2 links.

*You do not need more than 1lb of any color. 1lb of powdercoat is like 1lb of feathers. Its a lot, and can do A LOT. If you want more than one color (ie silver vein with candy topcoat, you will need both those colors.

*If you have parts that need masking (bolts, holes, etc) order a roll of this tape. The width is up to your discretion. If another member needs it and doesnt have it, he should throw a few bucks to the person who bought it.
Masking Tape

*Please order 1 powdercoating cup. They are 2.99 and will help move the process faster. Scroll down, its the second item in the yellow field.PowderCups
If you have more than one color, please order the same amount of cups as colors. Cleaning out these things is time consuming, and they need to be immaculate. Contamination of powder colors will ruin the finished product (ie black speck in red coat)

So, after all that, please make a list, like so....1 item per line, to make it easy to keep track...

ITEM#1 - Superwetblack
ITEM#2 - Silver Vein with Lollipop Blue
etc.

If I see that many members want the same powder, we can just use that 1lb and you guys can split the cost.

P.S. Dont be pissed if I deny a part. If I cant do it at techday, I will do it another time, but this is our host's house, and I would like to spend some time "enjoying myself as well. I would say 1hr per person. (1hr is A LOT OF PARTS)

P.P.S If anyone has a drill...CORDED, not cordless (dont want to run out of batteries) and some wirebrush attachments, that would help a lot.

P.P.P.S If you have a part that is easy to coat, but needs a lot of stripping work, if possible, strip it pre-tech day, so we can just coat it for you and move on.

Dave, props to you for hooking us up. I've decided to go with lollipop blue, but my question is what color do I need to go under it?

Parts: 2 top charge pipes, intake arm, (if we have time... the radiator stays, top of hood dampers).

ITEM#1 - UNKNOWN COLOR? with Lollipop Blue

First of all, I added more color options. These two pagea have ALL the colors this place has to offer. On top, youll see sections for metallic, RAL, high temp, etc....you can click on those, and see more....

Mike, under blue, if you really want it to pop you need a light color. You can go with White Linen, vanilla, or pearl white. Bright white is the most "pop" color you can get. Pearl white, will not be as blue, but will have a deep look to it...almost 3d. If you want the color to REALLY shine, then XTREME chrome covered with the blue would be VERY loud and bright....all depends on what you are looking to do

This is a chrome base with purple candy over it....

Also, I added another site....you might like their candy blue better. Its lighter...and brighter...

Lollipop is a bit darker and richer. Just giving you options. Check them all out!

P.S. If anyone has a spare oven rack, that would be great. I dont want to mess up SPECs rack from a little loose powder.

Cool. If you are coating everything the same color, then it wont take any more time.....so we can do all your stuff.

Hmm...you would think more people would want stuff done.

This is your chance to get some stuff done for free....after this....Im gonna charge (still cheap) for all this, so take advantage....

I wanna do a heat sheild (1' X1 1/2') and some other small, misc. peices under the hood. and thanks to dave ahead of time, this is very generous of you.

silver vein metallic and candy raspberry

lemme know if that'll work and I want it to match the valve cover but I don't want it to be "fruity bright red" so how dark you think it'll be (maybe I should go with lollypop red). I'm gonna wait to hear back from you before ordering.

thanks again,
-Sam-

Also, I would like to impose a $5 dollar service fee. This money will go to SPEC Ops parents towards the electric bill. Electric Oven + a bunch of powdercoating = $$ Bill.
