Smile Fender Bender!

Today as I'm driving up the driveway to my school, which is about 1/4 mile long and curving to the left, I see a kid driving down the driveway around the curve in a white Pontiac Bonneville. The kid's in my Econ class, and he's a real moron, but nice enough, so I figure I'll wave when he drives by. As we're both rounding the corner (2 lane road, centerline marked) I notice that he's going left of center. I figure he's just swerving at me to spook me or something, but then I notice that he's looking out his driver side window waving at someone, and definitely not watching the road. He continues around the curve not turning enough to stay in his lane and I realize I have a problem. I'm goin about 20 so I get on the brakes hard and come to a complete stop. Just as my car stops (and stalls thanks to my not depressing the clutch) he looks up and realizes he's headed straight for me...about 15 ft away. I see the look of panic in his eyes just as they disappear behind his airbag.

Both of his airbags deploy, shattering his windshield. Luckily, mine don't. He brought his car down to around 15 MPH before we hit. I see him deflating the airbag and getting out of the car, so I get out and look at the front of his car. Due to the fast that we were both cornering, just center of my driver side headlight hit dead center on his front bumper. The center of his bumper was pushed in about one foot, and my heart sank as I gathered up the courage to walk around and check out my car. As I asses my damages, I'm glad to find that his P.O.S. took the brunt of the impact, and my lil girl faired pretty well.

I calmed the urge to jump over the cars and whip his ass, and told him to pull off the road so that other cars could pass. Then the two of us busted out the cell phones and started the calling frenzy, OHP inculded. We sat in my car after we gathered our info and waited for the statey to show up. He kept admitting complete guilt (no sh!t) and I kept trying to keep my mouth shut. The cop showed up, we gout our reports written, exchanged info, he got cited, and we were on our way.

My front bumper definitely needs replaced. The tip of the hood needs work, if not replaced, the foremost attachment of the fenders have cracked paint on the eyelets, suggesting they were stressed by the bumper being pushed into them. My stepdad seems to think the camber on the front wheels is off, but I dont see it myself.

You guys got any cool ideas for replacement parts, lol? His insurance company pickin up the tab might be a good excuse to go aftermarket.

Pics #1, The biggest crack in my bumper, separation from headlight, and something starting to poke through just to the left of my tow hook cover.

Pic #2 The d@mn Pontiac logo impressed into my bumper about 6" left of the proper "H" logo. Bonneville is also imprinted backwards a little lower, but I couldn't get it to come out in a pic.

Pic #3 The other angle of the bumper

All in all a very impressive performance by the S. I wish I had pics of the other guy's Bonneville, because it looked like it was involved in a much more serious accident.

Rocket,

Sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you're o.k., it could have been a lot worse.

I'm anxious to see the photos to see how bad the damage is.

On the bright side after your car's front is fixed it should be free of any scratches/stone knicks your current one may have had, Hope you get it fixed quickly.

It would take two more days to cover the resulting repair story, including David1 removing Ray's bumper 8 or 9 times to get it right.
